When I replace the faulty coil pack....
#1
When I replace the faulty coil pack....
will the problem be eliminated immediately? OR, like other fixes,
it takes a while for the computer to learn about the fix?
Last night I swapped out a new coil pack for one I thought might
be bad, and well, the car is still not working properly....
So, this means one of a few things:
1) I swapped the wrong one.
2) The new one doesn't work.
3) I had more than one faulty coil pack
4) It takes a while for the computer to "relearn".
Thoughts????
Thanks!

coils are about $50-60 each, and we have 6 of em...not a cheap thing to go wrong when it does...you can get them at the dealer...
1) could be
2) possible, but not likely
3) did u get a CEL for your troubles? if you had more than one fault pack, it says multiple cylinder misfire...if you didnt get a code, then
4) nope

Peace.

Most of my friends tell me -- "Just take it to a mechanic"...and I get
so pi$$ed off!! Everytime I take my car to the dealer (twice now,
and both times different dealers!!!) they give me bogus super-expensive
repairs that wouldn't have solved my problem.
So, I've HAD IT with dealers...and mechanics...with the .org and my
own mechanical abilities, I think I'm as good as some of those con-artists!
Anyhow, thanks again!

OK, so I tried the "unplug and omethod...
and, well, EVERY pack I unplugged affected the RPMs, which takes
me back to my other post that when a coil pack goes bad, it only
affects the car sporadically, which makes this method essentially
worthless!
Oh well, I have some more questions on this, and I'll post 'em now.
take care,
