Rear speaker - Worth the effort?

I have blown my rear factory speakers and need to remove them. I have read the how to's and it seems like you have to go through a lot of trouble to remove the seats, then the deck. Wouldn't it be easier to just pry the speaker cover off, change the speakers and then glue it back together when done?
Has anyone done this?

I have a set of 6X9 speakers i just sold. They are a lot easier to install than 6.5's. you just screw them up from underneath (trunk). If you do get rid of these speakers, i recommend 6X9's, more power, easier install.

DON'T DO THAT! You might f_uck up somethin or break something, and have to glue it back all ugly. It took me about 1/2 hr to do the 1st time, and to figure out everything.
Here's the link I used to replace the stock crap:

Its not that big of a deal after you've done it...seems like a lot @ first!

not as bad as it may look

i agree with shoooter_j. i installed my system today and it was a lot easier then it looked in the instructions. you should just follow the instructions. it took me and a friend about 30 minutes to replace the back speakers and we were taking our time. just get a friend to help and the install will be fine. also, in some instructions it tells you to remove the brake light. i didnt do this step and just lifted up the back cover with the light still in place. oh, and i used the instructions in the audio faq section. i used the pics at the bottom of the first page.

I agree do not do that!!!!. the way i see it, if you have to break omethin and later on repair it just to do a mod (audio, engine, whatever) then it really isnt worth doin. Unless ur getin your rear deck modified, i dont see how 6x9's would fit in the stock place. I have 6x9's now and they just rest on top of the deck unscrewed and all. For simplicity jut stick with 6.5's(stock size).if you think the size of the speaker determines the sound and power then ur mistaken. ive seen some 6.5 mb quarts kick the hell outta some 6x9 xplod's. traditionaly 6x9's over power 6.5's hands down but make sure whatever u decide, dont settle for cheap speakers like i did (sorry @ss Jensen. and install them right.

I have a 99SE, I don't have the brake light, but I do have the third seatbelt thingy right in the center of the rear deck. Will that be a problem, or will it just lift up with the deck lid?

Well I have a 96 Maxima so I'm not sure about the third seat belt, but I'm guessing it won't matter much. It's most likely bolted to the car so when you lift up the deck lid you'll see it bolted to the frame of the car. Just look at the instructions in the FAQ post in the audio section. It helped my out a lot.

Real deck is a pain in the behind to do but when your stocks are blown you gotta do it.
Took me about 1.5 Hrs to do the rears.

Rear deck speakers are a pain, you have to remove the rear set then pop the deck up cause the speaker/grill is bolted from underneath the deck and have to remove it that way. Not all 6.5s will fit perfectly though MB Quarts and Polks will require customizing a speaker pod the magnet and diameter seems a bit smaller/bigger when I did the install.
Takes about 1hour taking your time to remove and install. Just becareful and don't pry too hard but hard enought, cause on the rear deck i snapped off one of the plugs that holds it down.
