Yeah I just got mine this week. Installation was easy. Love that deep growl it gives off. Funny thing is that a bigger intake is supposed to get you better mpg right? I've watched my mpg go down a lot since the intake, due to a lot redline driving just to hear it growl.

I think the red is what makes the deeper sound and the extra pull

Oh well whatever. I'm satisfied with the K&N. If I want that extra 4hp I'll throw on a .org sticker.

I remember looking at the Frankencar web site a month of so ago, and they had the mid-pipe and Apexi filter. I was there a few days ago and no more apexi filter. What did your set up cost with mid-pipe, adapter, and apexi filter? I got the homemade set up now. I planned on getting the stage 3 with the heat shield and cold air tube in the spring. I hope to be able to get the apexi filter with it.

roughly $40 more than the K&N. They still have the apexi on the site. Scroll down to the lower section of the intakes page.

I can't wait for mine, but I ordered in August and it hasn't arrived yet. They should warn people on the site that it might take a while before it ships.

If you ordered the intake that long ago from Frankencar and it still didn't arive, something is seriously wrong. The people who were in the GD for the intakes ordered them and got them a lot sooner. Call Steve and cancel your order and buy a used one for like $70 in the for sale section.

Yeah I ordered at the begining of this month, and got it late last week. I had to email them twice to get a response on when it would ship. I emailed Scott the frist time, and then Scott and Steve the second time. From the 2nd email I got a reply saying it would get shipped out the next week. And it did, and I recieved it 2 after he said it would be shipped. If you don't email them I recommed calling either of them. If you paid by CC and they billed you already, then I would call them asap.

Sorry, no way will 2 different cone filter elements tested on the same car/same day account for a margin of 4 hp: definitely not at the wheels, and I'd be very surprised to even see a difference of 1 or 2 at the crank.

Link to the plot. Prove me wrong. I'd be happy to see that much of a gain from a filter choice, alone.

Is the Apexi reusable like the K&N? If not how long do they
usually last? What kind of material is the filter made of?

how is the apexi filter different from say, the pop charger with the built in velo. stack?
i believe in its gains after reading that thread but how?
and does anyone know what model filter that is, if i wanted to go buy one separately?

http://www.apexi-usa.com/intake_powerintake.asp

Thats from the apexi site. Basically it explains what makes it a different intake from a K&N.

I'm with her...I doubt a simple filter swap will give 4HP gain, unless that K+N was filthy as all he!!

yeah im with everyone that says the filter choice will not give 4hp...even on the 5th gens....i mean even swapping from clean stock filter to K&N i dont even think we see 4hp increase from that, maybe like 1 or 2 ponies more...and the apex isnt reusable either, $80 on a filter that you have to throw away after 30,000 miles just isnt worth it EVEN IF IT ADDS 4HP OVER K&N, which i doubt it does.

Even if it doesn't give the extra power, the Apexi filter is teh best filtering filter. There were test done comparing HKS, K&N, Apexi and some other one where the Apexi cleaned the incoming air the best.
