guys what the he!! is this???

i was lookin through some ebay stuff for sale and i found this maxima for sale. it has some performance mods but the thing that has me confused is that he says he has an electric super charger and that his car does 285 hp. is this thing for real.i did a search but only found stuff about the tornado thingy i have a pic and link, but im not sure if it will show up. Please let me know what this thing is, is it real, does it produce any gains. it looks rather cheap (in the affordable sense)Pic of elecrtic Supercharger

lookin at the pic, it looks like my black and decker leaf blower. when i did the search, i didnt see anything that looked like this. I know that there is a 99% chance this thing is BS, but if you looked at the entire thread, or followed the link, i said that i found this on an auction for a maxima. the guy is selling his maxima claiming his car is doing 285 horses!!! if he is lieing than that is the biggest crime of all concerning car sales. thats worse than a car salesman telling you a that a 1986 chrysler reliant is a good car.

My family used to own a 1988 Dodge Aries LE w/ the 2.5 4cyl...ran it till 100k miles and sold it in 97. Never gave any problems other than basic maintenance.

Duh you guys

Its obviously the GTR badge on the engine that gives him the 285 hp. I can't believe you didn't see it - it's so obvious.

Re: :o)

I have seen electric superchargers that run off of a 48 volt battery kept in the trunk. Basically an industrial strength hair dryer. It looks like that is what this guy has. They can spin up to about 50,000 rpm but the cfm and boost pressure is pretty limited. They are good for about 20-30 hp at most, but they do help out low end power more because the fan speed is not dependent on engine speed in the least and the fan can produce plenty of extra cfm for the engine at the lower rpm range. The battery has to be recharged with an external charger, not from the alternator.

I don't know how he thinks he is getting 285 hp, though, except maybe he is talking crank hp and he's guessing and fudging a bit.

That car has 209,000 miles, and that "supercharger" looks like it came from Home Depot or something. It's probably some form of air charger or something, aint no way in hell that piece is puttin out 285 hp from that little thing. No other mods either, you would think that a supercharged machine would be modded a little further. my opinion, not worth the money, even as cheap as it is.

He probably get's his 80 HP from a Tornado Air lol

yea, that is probably bogus. I know a guy who drove a 200SX w/an electrical fan going to his intake (like that). He said it was quick, but that was after he was driving a 1992 sentra w/ 190K on it, and the original clutch.

I would check somewhere else man. That car has WAY too many miles on it, plus he's already rebuilt it.

6K.....sheesh!

SAFE FOR YOUR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: High current for short duration is drawn directly from your battery, not your alternator. Just like your starter motor.
LoL, I would buy it too, if these girls were there
