Strange Idle

I have a 5spd, SC, and HKS twin ignition system...

Whenever I start the car the idle jumps to 1500 and stays that way for maybe 5 mins and then only after, does it go to 700rpm, is this normal?

Mine is like that too. only cold starts but mine will gradyally lower to 700 after a couple minutes when its warmed up. Pretty shure its normal for all cars

it nornal it the ECU trying to warm up the engine faster, once you are up to normal engine temp it goes down to 700 or 900 if the AC is on

i recently reset my ecu... now my car idles very very low (500) even on cold starts.. takes me a while to get it starting in the morning when its cold. i have to manually bring the idle up to 1000 with the accelterator because my ecu wont tell the car to warm up... is this normal after reseting the ecu

thanks

Not for more than a day or two it isn't. You might want to double check that the screw on the ECU is in the correct position. If so, you should adjust your base idle upwards to where it should be.

Like someone else posted, make sure you reset the ECU correctly. Sounds like you may need to do it again to be sure. With the key in the "ON" position (dash lights lit up), turn the screw clockwise to the stop for atleast 2 seconds. Then read your codes on the check engine light. Then, without touching the key, turn the screw counter-clockwise to the stop. Should be reset correctly. Take it for a spin. Let us know if this fixes it.

ecu prob too

I had the exact same thing happen to me last night. i changed by brakes with Raybestoes Qs pads.

Then i reset the ecu and the car hardly stays running.. i got the code
9long 8short & 1long 3short. there both the same :Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.

I reset it again and it still idles at 300 rpms. why? why? why?
I reset it again after driving it for a while again.
And Again 300 RPM IDLE.NOT GOOD For premium cars.
It Actually died once and stutterers before moving when it idles this low. why. the Car was fine.

p.s. the engine light is now off. when i checked it again last night i got 5long / 5short : which is undefined/reset ecu.

HELP MDUB's MAXIMA... please guys.
