Why do people lie about their cars? Just venting!

Why the hell do people lie about their freakin cars when they know the truth is just a couple of clicks away.

Case in point: I am washing my car a couple of days ago @ my complexes car wash area and this guy is washing his 2002 x-treme (I can barely type that) yellow blazer (slammed w/stock wheels and some lowrider club banner on windshield) and he starts asking me about my car what year, etc. Then I ask him if his truck had the 4.3L engine and he says yeah but according to him the extremes have a 4.3L that puts out, and I quote "272 HP" and I was like come on, but I believed him, why the hell would he lie. Anyway obviously I didn't fully believe him and it has been bothering me so today when I look it up on Chevy website sure enough it puts out 190 HP. I hope him and I are leaving my complex at the same time soon so I can blow the doors off a 272 HP **** yellow blaxer x-treme.

Sorry, just letting off some steam.

I lied about my car once. I've got an auto with a homemade intake but, I told the guy in the Honda that I had a 5-speed and "most of the bolt-on mods" after I beat his 16.7 with my 15.4 at the track. I wanted him to feel like he could go up against stock Maximas and have a chance.
