a) if thats parts and labor, sounds pretty damn good.

b) if its just labor and they are ~$70/hour, thats under 6 hours....which I think is about right. now if their labor rate is lower, like say 50 or 60, then i think they are padding their time.

good luck

DaDamn! How many people looking for a good mechanic in NYC? Jeez. Well, here is the deal. My mechanics name is Mark, He is a very honest and very smart mechanic he is been in our family to take care of our cars since past 4 years. He works at Amoco station on coney island and neptune in Brooklyn. He offcourse doesnt own the Amoco gas station but even his boss is my very good friend and whenever I pay him cash he never charges me tax or anything.(BTW what ever mark tells his boss that this is what should be charged, his boss only charges that) Once I had to take my car 4 times in one month to get my alignment done because I was never satisfied and he NEVER said a word and always took care of me. Any way, here is the deal. I have free incoming on my cell (Nextel baby ). my # 347 242 0028. Who ever has a problem with their clutch or whatever the problem might be, u can call me till 11 30 PM. The shop is open from 8-7 and mark is off on Saturdays. You guys can call me and I will either be with the person who wants to go to him. So i can tell him that you are my friend and he will take care of you guys.If i cant come i will call him up and let him know of the situation. You just have to go once to him and after that you will never go to anybody. He will never put anything in your car that is not needed until its absolutely necessary.
