Amp Sub question + general modding guideline
hello fellow maxima drivers...
I have Green 95 auto (eek) with Frankencar, front clears, FSTB, RSB, Alpine 7856 and 4x Polk EX365 6 1/2.
I was thinking more mods, the lower number being the sooner of the mods.
1. y-pipe (budget) I think it's good, isn't it?
2. amp and sub + enclosure: don't know which one is right. Help plz. I need to smash some windows, but my alpine has only one preamp output...
3. shocks/springs (AGX/Maxspeed) + tires. good combo, right?
4. body kit and new paint job. I need mean looks. and because I have 95, I need to drop the whole ugly front bumper.. go custom???
5. get 2K2 in 2008
that's about it in my brain...is there some noteworthy mod that I left out? BTW, I don't need MEVI. gonna get 2K2 anyway...
all your helps are appreciated.
and on 14th, I'm heading out to Andretti, for all GA people. hmmmmm

Personally I like the front bumper for a 95/6, it looks nice, but that's my ponion. Get a y-pipe and a MEVI. Stillen front lip, maybe some HID's. When you get the front lip, if yo have tyhe extra dough, paint the enitire car. If you really dislike the front bumper, then convert it to a 97+ and add a Stilen lip as well.

how about those custom front bumper in GD?
like $795 shipped for entire custom Skyline kit?
Eric has 97-99 conversion w/ stillen lip and side/rear and they are good but do not add much pizzazz.
I need the looks to impress local ricers in addition to beating their Accords with 50 shot.

And as for amps and subs, which power level should I go for? 200 watts RMS/ 400 max or any higher? maybe 1000 watts?
Re: which one?
Put it this way, about 9-10 months ago, there were probably like 6 companies interested in making body kits. I was included. Only one kit out of all of these was actually made, and that was the Type S (Skyline) kit. This was right after the time the Sarona got really popular. Now the Type S kit is really popular, and a lot of those same companies are now back saying they'll do a kit, blah blah. But the all involve getting 10 people to pay up front for this thing. So it's kind of iffy if any of those kits will be produced.
I say go for something that's already out there and available. The current Skyline kit, the Stillen, the Sarona (may they all burn in hell
) and the JT Autostyle kit. BTW, if you're interested in the JT kit, I can get them for an incredible price.
As for the amp, I'd recommend you go for the highest wattage you can afford. No such thing as too much power as long as it's clean. I went from a 160 watt amp system to a 280 watt amp, to a 500 watt amp, to 2 amps, and now I've got a 1200 watt amp on the subs and 3 other amps for the other speakers. Up until now, it wasn't ever loud enough or clean enough for me. So now I've got a total of 4 amps and 2100 watts RMS and I'm happy.

Love my AGX/maxspeed combo; look into the WSP b-pipe fix. $50 without resonator and $70 with (tight crimp in our pipes after the resonator (see www.warpspeed performace for details) - local muffler shop can probably do it for cheap though.

first off-DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THE *******ES AT JT. i got side skirts- first set too short. called and they expressed me another set. too short. 3rd times a charm right? got a good length but the craftsmanship is real bad.took more money and time than skirts cost in the first place. any kit needs a custom touch but if you shop here youll be sorry.
as for amps- power is good but buy good power. for example
hoenix gold, orion, ppi, us amps, etc.
try to get a phoenix gold 4300 or 4600 (older models that kick butt)
these are 4 channels that you can run w/one set of rca's.run your highs w either. then get a p.g. 2500 for the lows. 2 apms 6 channels 2 seperate power supplies all off 1 set of rca's.

No kit is perfect, with fiberglass kits it's kind of a buyer beware thing these days. I've dealt for about 5 different brands now, and all of them have their problems. Just last week, I got a set of skirts that was 2" too short for a Prelude. My Sarona kit was too long on one side and too short on the other.
But JT at least tries in the customer service department. With most shops, they just say it's fiberglass and you should expect fitment issues and they won't do anything about it. Just have to find a reputable shop.

shadow i was wondering with all of that power, do you have an upgraded electrical system(batteries altenator...) because that must put a real strain on the power system. I was plannin on running the jbl 1200 watt amp and a jbl 300 watt amp but was affraid i would kill my alt. any suggestions how to upgrade????
