Got the dumbest ticket... do you guys think I should be able to get this dismissed?
Got the dumbest ticket... do you guys think I should be able to get this dismissed?
WEll yesterday I rewired my corner lights(before i knew about the knub shaving) and i blew the fuse so I planned to get it replaced today. WEll i didnt know that my tail light running lights werent working... so I get stopped and ticketed for this. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW!!?? Thats what i told him anyway but he didnt care. Probably thought I was just some kid who likes to race.. lol. So if I get this fixed and go to court w/ verification of purchase of the fuses and pictures of the new taillights do you think i can get this dismissed? Thanks a lot.
just apoligize and say you found the problem and its fixed now, pictures of the fuse may help but be very descriptive. that works for me and window tint, as long as your peel it off, they dismiss it, but who peels there tint off just pay the fine
Xarfox - the knub thing isnt just for 95-96... read on down the 4th generation posts for today and yesterday. I posted something and there were a lot of replies and people saying that it works for 95-99. Thanks for yalls help.

Just say that your car was having some electrical wiring problems, you let your mechanic fix-it and he inadvertently popped the fuse, that is all. The judge won't go into further detail unless you're a terrible liar.

i hate @$$hole cops like that. i've been pulled quite a few times but i've been lucky enough to get away with warnings so far (knock on wood). i seriously believe that cops discriminate against ppl w/ rims or body kit or something that makes ur car look like a street racing car. i think i've been lucky enough to get warnings b4 because my car was stock but now i get closer and closer to lookin like a "street racer". one time i got pulled for my lights bein out on my tag but the cop was real cool and just told me that my lights were out on my tag.
Lighting is always a fix-it ticket. Get it fixed (replace the fuse), take some pictures, and have them sign the ticket to clear you.
Unless you have a lot of time, it is generally not worth it to fight a ticket. I got a speeding ticket yesterday, 51 in a 35. I could wait in court all day to have them drop the fine by $30, but honestly it is not worth it. I'll pay the fine, do the time in traffic school, and forget about it.

Umm, hate to point out the obvious, but. . .

"No taillights" is a little bit more serious a violation than "no tag lights," as it has a direct impact on the safety of other drivers sharing the roadways.
How is a cop an a$$hole when he potentially prevents an accident before it happens? This guy should be thanking the cop for stopping and making him aware of the problem, even if he DID get a fix-it ticket. Big deal.
(Sure, a warning would have been a nice gesture, but in the end, wouldn't you be glad you were made aware that YOU HAVE NO LIGHTS ON THE BACK OF YOUR CAR AT NIGHT?!?) Priorities.
If an unsuspecting driver slams into you from behind at night because your tail lights are out & he couldn't see you, guess who could be (at least partly) liable? YOU!! A plea of ignorance will get you nowhere if someone else suffers injuries.
The cop very likely saved this guy (& some other unlucky motorist) from a serious accident and potential $damages$. Like it or not, he was doing his job.
Yes there is no denying the fact that the cop was doing his job... and it could have saved me from an accident. I appreciate your input but I wasnt asking anyone if he was doing his job correctly or what could have happened. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this same problem and if this could be dismissed easily. Ive fixed the problem, taken pictures, kept documents, etc. Hopefully this will be straightened out.

Good luck - I hope it works out 4u.
Re: duh
