All those who have 95 max's, do you notice that when you first start driving your car it seems more resposive. When the engin warms up, it seems to loose it's pickup. Is this a common thing among the 95 model year, or is it just my car? Does anyone know what I'm talking about and or know what the cause or solution may be.

One other thing. What are the symtoms of a bad tranny? Any insite will greatly be appreciated. Thanks

I have a 95 SE w/76K on it. The auto shifter seems to become stuck when placed in park. So much so the car would not start one time, indicating it was still in gear when I turned it off. Responsiveness may depend on temp. I am not sure if my tranny is bad, but it better go out before 84K so it can be replaced under warranty.

Let me know if you here anything else for determining a bad tranny. Thanks

I think I no what you mean,

When your car first starts up the air under your hood is cold and when the air is cold there is more oxygen in the air resulting in better combustion of your fuel which equals more power.A cold air intake would solve that problem, because the air would always be the same temperature. You do mention your tranny I am assuming it is a automatic and you may be experiencing slower gear shifts when the car is hot which is a possability, possible cures for that problem is changing your tranny fluid to a senthetic base oil like redline or amsoil,or you could get Don's VB transmission upgrade {I think that's the name of it}.Good luck.

Auto Tranny? >>

If you have an auto tranny you could be experiencing slower shifts and "less performance" because of the tranny heating up. Maybe you should look into a tranny cooler. That would keep the fluid temps low. But if you really want the firm shifts, the VB upgrade would be the way to go. But I think thats 400 smackers. I'm pretty sure I'm going for the tranny cooler soon. Gonna have it installed when I have my tranny fluid changed.

First I would like to say thanks for all your help. I now have two questions. Where can I go and get a VB upgrade, will a local shop do it? where can I get a tranny cooler Thank again.

Re: Re: Auto Tranny? >>

You can get a VB upgrade from Don here on the BBS. He takes OEM valvebodies and modifies them. You can also get them from Level 10. They are performance tranny specialists. But like I said, its 400 dollars.
You can get a tranny cooler from Pepboys or Autozone. Goto <A HREF="http://grprete.jnet.net/Greg's%20Garage/1999%20Nissan%20Maxima%20SE/1999%20Nissan%20Maxima%20SE%20-%20Xmission%20Cooler.htm">This site</A> for more detailed information on the tranny cooler.

Hey there, I keep hearing so much about that VB upgrade here on the board. I thought a tranny job would be much more due to the labor involved. Does anyone know ... does the VB upgrade change the driving feel, shift points etc. What will be the difference on the drivability end versus stock. It appears that if you have an auto and want to put any heavy hp to the wheels that this is essential ... just wanted to check the caveats.

Thanks
Chris
