Error Code 0102 (Mass Air Flow Sensor) *Help*

***I posted this in the Gen. Maxima Forum but I haven't gotten any responses. Hopefully, I can get some here.***

Last Saturday, as I was pulling out of the driveway, the car sputtered a little. I looked at my dash and sure enough the SES light came on. I pulled out the code and it turned out to be the MAF sensor. I reset the ECU and it hasn't come up since.

My question is: Is there something really wrong with the sensor or could it have just been a false alarm. I've heard that if the MAF sensor is realy f***ed up, the RPM's usually won't go past 2,500 or so. Should I stop worrying about it or should I start searching for another MAF?

Reset the ECU and see if it comes back. If it does, you probably need a new MAF.

I reset the ECU that same day. I have noticed a pretty big drop off in gas mileage though. Could that have anything to do with the MAF???

if you have any friends, try swapping MAF's and take a test drive...it most likely is your MAF going bad....time to hit up some junk yards, because MAF's are a pretty penny

I too got a 0102 code today. Car has been running poorly for some time now, hesitating, did some bucking last week (replaced the fuel filter after that). The car feels starved at 4000 RPMs, which it won't go to unless I hold it in gear (auto) and shift manually.

No other codes popped up but 0102.

Is the MAF difficult to replace?

MAF is def dead...you can try cleaning out with some K+N cleaner if you have some, no harm in trying....other than that, just replace it..its not hard it all, just unbolt your stock air box/intake, and then the midpipe area, disconnect the sensor, and then put the new one in, plug in the sensor, and replace the intake and midpipe.
