i think i should just start a different thread about this but is it possible to direct port nitrous a MEVI? i never saw the topic come up and searching just consumed 20 minutes of my life. Another thing, why didnt the MEVI just come stock on our maximas, or at least the 2000, and 2001 VQ 3.0L engines. Its a great advantage IMO or is it some new invention???

yes, you can Nitrous it just like the stock manifold.

It DOES come stock on the 2000+ Maxima, the new 350Z, I35, G35, etc, etc.

It also came stock on the 3rd Gen VG 5-spd.

Why they didn't release it in the US on 4th Gen? Noone knows.

mabey nissan was tryin to save money by not putting it on 4th gens. Mabey if they put it on the 97+ 4th gens it would have been a nice upgrade in addition to the new redesign. or mabey even adding it on the SE model. Well i look forward to getting mine and a CAI before spring break... hopefully...

VTEC has to do with valves, MEVI has nothing to do with valves.

if you don't know how to search, you didn't read the page when you signed up! look up and right on your screen. there are two lines of print up there. the bottom line has a word in it that says "search". click that, and enter what you want to search. be careful though! you must have atleast 3 letters/numbers in every word that you search. if you don't, it won't work. btw, your car is not an se-l!

It's not like VTEC at all, but you definately can hear when it opens. Of course if you have it set for the correct switchover RPM (~5200rpms) you rarely get to hear it because you're exceeding the speed limit in most cases at that rpm.

I'd hate to bring this up again, but after 28 Dyno runs, 5000RPM is the best place to put it.

Maybe on your car, but according to my plots 5200-5400rpms is ideal. Even Mardigras saw that 5200-5500 was ideal. According to my dynos from 4500-5400rpms, my MEVI flows EXACTLY the same as the USIM therefore a switchover before 5400rpms only disrupts air flow. I set my switchover for 5200rpms because there is a slight delay before the valves open. On my car with the switchover set at 5000rpms, there is a loss of 5fwhp from 5000-5400rpms compared to the USIM.

Well, the fact is I never Dynoed with the USIM. So maybe you've got me there. But I lost 6hp by going at 5200 vs 5000 with the MEVI.

MardisGras also is running N02 and a very small pulley.

3rd Gen VE 5spd..

the technology was released in 1997... at that point the 4th Gen was already 2 years into production.. can you imagine how crazy it would have been if the 97's had VI's and the 95/96's didn't.. more people would have jumped ship

so they decided to save the technology for the next Generation Maxima .. 2000.. and thats when the VI was introduced to the US..

in the Middle East.. their 3rd Gen's stop in 1996 .. so their 4th Gen's started in 1997 and thus why their 4th Gen's have VI's and ours don't
