motorvate.ca UPDATED > CV boot R&R / 1/4 mile Y-pipe (before and after)

Hey All,

I just wanted you to know that motorvate.ca has just been updated:
(1) How to replace your CV boots. Simply visit www.motorvate.ca and click on Driveline, and click on CV Boot R&R.
(2) Quarter mile time difference before and after Budget Y-Pipe. Look under Drag Strip ETs on the left menu.

I have also fixed the real player video problem. All videos play just fine with Media Player. (The Maxima burn out video has been re-produced with out any back ground noise, so that you can heat the intake howl. Click here: http://motorvate.ca/video/video_ms_s...ma_burnout.wmv

If you want to or like to do your own work on your Maxima, come by and have a look.

Some Topics covered are:
-Changing Engine Oil,
-Front Brake Pads & Rotor R&R (removal and replacement)
-Budget Y-Pipe Dyno (before and after)
-Quarter mile times (before and after Y-Pipe)
-Changing the knock sensor
-and much more....

Take Care,
Max VQ

Thanks for the kind words on my site. Comments like this is exactly what keeps me going.

As you can imagine, taking the pictures really adds to the time it takes to fix my car. Putting it on the web takes more time.

I will soon be posting a little spark plug/ fuel test I did over 200,000 KM. I think you will find it interesting.

Take Care & Happy New Year to all!

I like your site and it has proven useful many times before.

I do plan on adding a cat back exhaust to the Maxima, and I will run the car again to see the difference.
I got that off your web site. I think that is a big no no. You are still NA, why don't you get a variable intake. Makes 30x the HP and cost maybe 50 dollars more . Adding an exhaust to an NA max will Yield at most 2hp.

Interesting point:

The MEVI may give you 30+ HP, but it is for a short time (~5000 RPM -6500 RPM) That is not much extra time, and that is why the quarter mile gains have not been much in the before-to-after MEVI. (2/10?)

The Cat back exhaust may give you 5-8 HP increase over the 3500 to 6500 RPM range, and it only costs $200-500 (depending on who you know...)

Have people seen better than 2/10 second decrease in their quarter mile time? If so, let me know....

I think you got that dyno off a SC or turbo car. I think a NA car will yield no more than 2hp with an exhaust honestly. Can someone else back me up on this? Did you get a mid pipe yet, if not, get one also to compliment your intake

I have. I attended the June or July meet someplace off the 400.
I also tried to get a bunch of people from the Canada forum to go with me to Cayuga last July. Only 2 people showed up.

I enjoy meeting up with other Maxima owners, I just need to have the time. (Wife, 2 kids, & a house that needs a lot of work)

Hey Frank,

Once again, your site is great! I've been able to enjoy my Max so much more as a direct result of all the detailed instructions and clear pictures on your site. Keep up the great work.

I also know what you mean about balancing needs of wifey & 2 kids. I'm in the same boat and have missed quite a few Toronto meets as a result. Hope to meet you sometime in 2003...maybe at St. Thomas 1/4 Mile?

Happy New Year!
Felix

Their schedule has yet to be finalized but I think the first Test and Tune day is in early April. Here's their website.
