Well I couldn't burn out at 1000 rpms, I couldn't burn out at 5 mph roll. You guys are either full of crap or you driving a different car. And a performance clutch would make a big difference. But like I said before a y-pipe deals with air flow and won't make a difference with your launch. Neither will an intake or catback exhaust.

Ok if we both rev to 1k and pop the clutch there will be very little difference. I have a brand new clutch granted it may not be the same thing you guys are running but it definetly pops when I want it to. I can light the tires up really low in the power band too but I am sitting on 15 steelies with ecsta rubbers. SH*T the first day I had the car I left a 150 foot strip off rubber in the parking lot at work.

With my current clutch I don't know about a burn out at 1000 RPM's, but I can for sure light them up from a 5mph roll. Since I got my Y-pipe I can really break the tires loose on my 1-2 shift, and that is with high performace 235/45 tires.

Lighting your tires up for 50 yards. Yhea right.

Maybe if you don't know how to drive. I was out there with 3 co-workers at 5am before the manager got there to let us in. I burned em as far as I could it took me a few tries to get used to how the max behaved. I spun them all the way through first and a good part of second. Its really not that hard with some decent torque high revs and **** tires.

Yes i know we can lay a nice patch of rubber with our cars. Which I think is stupid in the first place. I just think your perception of distance is a little off. I am sure it was long. But a 150 ft?

i did this @ work a few weeks ago too... not quite that far... but my ebrake was pulled... and i had my 15's w/ some crappy tires. but as far as losing tracking at low speeds... that happens all of the time for me... and its annoying as crap. especially since its been cold... and i have a new clutch and ypipe ... i have to be really careful not to break loose. and if i push it... 1st and 2nd either spin badly or i get mad wheel hop from a stand still or a roll. i'm looking into a new suspension set up and new tires its become so bad. hopefully warm weather will make some difference too.

i started busting my tires loose a lot more after the ypipe, and the sts is a God send for chirping gears.

What is an STS?

As far as a patch of rubber goes all you have to do is walk it off......1 good stride=approx. 3 feet.

Could anyone answer my previous post about the parts I purchaced? I can still take any of them back as they have not been put on the car yet.....purolator gas filter, purolator "Pure One" oil filter,(6 bux!) purolator PVC valve, Castrol Synthetic "Blend" 5W30 (they were out of plain vanilla 5W30 GTX hence the "blend") I don't know anything about this oil but it'll get changed in 3 more K anyway. I know not to buy fram but I was not sure about Purolator and I wanted to get it all at the same place.(Advance Auto) Oh, and I did get the NGK Coppers. The Pure One oil filter claimed to have more surface area than any other brand. Something like 60% more I think, that can't be bad?!?! can it? They did have K&N oil filters but don't stock the one for 4th gens or newer, just the 3rd gen.

Only 2 more days till Y pipe time YEA!!!

Thanks

the sts is a short throw shifter, only applicable for the 5spd owners, i highly recommend it over the stock shifter(its just too long)

Just like a turbo has turbo lag because airflow has to spool up. That's why you feel a jump in power when you hit about 2650 rpms because that's when it really kicks in.
If you engage at 1000 rpms and are burning your tires then you have other modifications. Most peoples car idle from from about 600-800 RPMS. ripping your tires at 1000 rpms would mean A LOT of torque.

here's a dyno of an Intake/Y-pipe 2k1 max maxima MORE power from all the way down where the dyno graph starts at 2100rpms....the intake is negligable on the low end as has been proven by dynos with ONLY intakes.

As for spinning my tires from 1000rpms...thats with the cluch FULLY ENGAGED, so it would have absolutely nothing to do with the clutch. I could do this after only the intake and y-pipe were installed on my car....
