Well let the modding begin . Put in Bluevisions, clear bumper corners, and rewired the side marker lights yesterday. I've got OEM fogs on the way.

I also want to put in Philips Bluevision H3s in the fogs, but the PIAA H3s in my friend's Max keep cracking his fog light lenses . Just wondering if anyone else has had that problem, especially with Bluevision H3s?

P.S. Chalk me up as another modding addict thanks to the .org

You sure the cracking is not from road debris?

That was debated (searched the .org too). He and our mechanic are pretty sure its the PIAA H3s. Both lenses cracked in almost a straight horizontal line through the middle of the lense. Can't find any evidence of stone chips either.

Unless they are the overwatt H3's, standard 55W H3's should not produce enough heat to crack the lens.

I put 100 watt H3 bulbs in there (yes I was stupid), and sure enough, there was a crack in one of the foglights. Never doing that again.

I have the piaa H3 85 watt in my oem fog light housing. It gets really hot but no cracking. I used to have cheap aftermarket foglights. The 85 watt piaa's cracked them. It was probably the great amount of heat generated. The 95-96 glass fog light housing can withstand the heat from the 85 watts. I live in souther cali though and it doesn't snow here. I'm not sure how they will perform in snowy weather.

This is the recepie for cracked OEM fog lenses:

Install high wattage H3's 85 or 100 Watts.

Drive around town and let those puppies get the lense really hot!

Now drive through a puddle and have some water splash on the ripping hot lense..... C-R-A-C-K

Pretty easy to do.

If you're going to run your fog lights all the time (no fog) don't run high wattage bulbs. Like njmaxseltd said, they get hot then if you hit water/snow, the lense will crack. I've had my hella 85 watt yellow stars in there for 3 years now. No problems. I hardly use them. Only when I have to. If you're going to run them all the time, stick with 55 watts. Or you can gamble and buy a new housing every once in a while.
