Just got back from the Nissan dealership...stay the fu<k out post ******

Town and Country Nissan/Kia in Vancouver, Washington.

Was getting my alternator recall taken care of, and while the man was punching in the information, he told me there was also a recall on the power steering hose clamp, so that was taken care of as well. They told me two hours total, and had it done in just over one. Bought me an espresso, let me sit in the 350z track model (more on this later) and the new minisuv (forget the name) and offered me test drives. I was shocked, awesome service - I sure wasn't expecting that.

I had them do the free inspection and they came back saying I need a new air filter, fuel filter, battery and brake fluid flush, for the low low price of only $273! I said I'd get back to them I know my battery is toast, getting a new one asap, air filter is also bad, and I don't think I've changed the fuel filter either, so I was impressed by their honesty.

OK, so about the 350z...the lot attendant who was washing my car and I talked while I was having a smoke. I asked him if he had driven a 350z yet, and he said yeah, but the Sentra Spec-v with a 5-speed is faster. I'm thinking in my head, Then he says a 4th gen maxima with a 5-speed is also faster than the 350z. I didn't say anything, I had gotten such great service earlier I didn't feel like ripping on the kid, just thought he was very funny!

How hard is a brake fluid flush, and is there a write up somewhere?

Thanks

Here is a brake bleeder that I made for myself. Bill has used it w/ sucess also.

The Mitivac type suction bleeders seem to work well for people here also.

It's not hard to do at all.

It's safer to use either gravity bleeding or vacuum bleeding. The two men pumping method is fast/effective but it's risky. You have to be careful that you don't depress the brake pedal more than 1". The piston of the master cylinder might have rust build up and by depressing the brake pedal further than usual. You might ruin seals and you will need a new master cylinder. Cars with ABS will require disconnecting the negative battery cable or disabling the ABS actuator.

The new Mini-SUV that just came out is called the Murano

I never knew there was another recall for 4th gens. involving the power steering hose clamp, what years does this apply to??

How does the 350-Z drive/handle while you tested it?

Was he comparing the 350Z stick shift to these cars?

BTW, I've driven the SE-R Spec-V. It's pretty quick, but honestly, it doesn't have the grunt of the VQ30, and it get's rocked up top at 120km/h+ as well. I've run my 98' 5spd against my buddies SE-R Spec V, and it's damn quick, but it is slightly slower than the 4th gen 5spd. I'd imagine the difference in 1/4 times to be less than .2 seconds.

As for the 350Z, maybe it was simply because the engines weren't broken in yet. Or maybe auto, or maybe simply a matter of new car glitches.
