Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

I have a 95 maxima gxe w/ 96k miles, and today my check engine light was on. I checked the diagnostics and got 1 long, 3 short pulses which says Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.. anyone know how to fix this?

you can always try resetting the ECU then see if the code comes back, it might not.

replacement is easy and well explained...either on this org or a related site, or a haynes manual. i don't remember exactly how to explain it or i would. you can pick up the sensor from AutoZone or a like store for ~$25. total time is less than 30 minutes, easy.

good luck

i think i payed roughly $40 for mine at a local nissan(stupid me should have ordered from one we get the discount). once we finally found which one it was, took about 10 minutes or so. do a search for it and you'll find many threads and write-ups. goodluck and do it before your car starts stalling.

Is your car having some start up issues? Replace that sensor and if your had starting problems, they'll go away too.

I reset my ECU and the Check Engine light went away. The only trouble I have starting my car is early in the morning or late at night when it's friggin freezing, and then it will stall the first time, and work when I give it a little gas..Im about to change my oil in the next couple of days.. so I guess replacing that sensor wouldn't hurt either..except my pockets, I lost my wallet in a movie Sunday night . .. Anyways thanks for the help

That will definately stop happening once you replace that sensor.

come to think of it, my car hasn't had nearly as much trouble starting lately as it used to...i replaced my ECTS a couple months ago. i never knew that might have something to do with it.
