gasoline on paint
gasoline on paint
Had a question for all of you. I was filling up my tank today at a gas station. I was checking oil levels and everything else under the hood, etc. Next thing I know, I look over at the pump and there is gasoline coming out of the car. The pump DID NOT automatically shut off. There was gas all down the side of the car below the gas cap/door area. I went home and took out the garden hose and rinsed everything on that side of the car to the best of my ability. Is there any way that the gas has or will do damage to the car even though I rinsed that area of the car off 10 minutes after the incident? I'm kinda worried. Thanks

You should be fine if you rinsed that part of the car off without wiping it. I would just go ahead and do a full body wash and wax on the car about now anyway. If you have a car that is not white, you'll probably never ever notice that area becoming discolored over time (because of periodic gasoline spillages).
If you spilled brake fluid on your paint, then you'd really have something to worry about, but gasoline, although not good for the paint, won't do much damage at all.

My car is of the Rosewood shade, not white, maybe it will not be noticeable. Thanks.
