I had to replace my water pump at about 165,000 miles. I lowered my car and changed the shocks and suspension after 30,000 miles, even though i didnt need them. I still haven't replaced the exhaust system, A/C system nor the drive chain. Nissan said you never should have to replace the drive chain. I run my 95 very hard and race from time to time with 173,000 miles. I also had to replace my CV boots, battery and an internal part of my alternator.

All those components should last long. But not CV boots, starter, and coolant temp sensor. All those die on the max a lot.

Are you getting like 10 miles to the gallon? I'm suprised
any fuel is even getting to the engine.

my '95 totaled max had 160k, and i did replace the starter once at about 90k, also the O2 Sensor died at around 100k.....but all this is common and very cheap to replace.

Alternator Dies at 40k
= Replacement alternator from dealer

45k Lowered the car
= Sprint Springs/ Koni Shocks

60k tuneup service
= New Belts, fuel filter, hoses, etc.

Car would stall and die at 63k
= Replaced Camshaft Position Sensor.

Car has bad gas mileage and lacks power that it used to at 80k
= Needs New Knock Sensor and possibly some o2 sensors as well.

Other things wrong with my car at 80k
- Suspension noises from the passenger front. Hollow thud sound, possibly a blown wheel bearing.
- Warped and scored rotors.
- Wood Dash from dealer starting to warp.

Overall I think i've had the most problems with sensors not lasting. I think it's documented that Nissan is notorious for this.

Actually even though I have never replaced the fuel filter, I still regularly get 25-26 mpg on my 95. It suprises me becuase my wife has a 2000 SE and she only gets 22mpg

I have a 96

so far I have replaced the CV boots, a window regulator, and the starter. It has about 75,000 on it now.

I am afraid to ask how long the automatic transmission lasts

my water pump had to be replaced at 53500 miles, alternator at 53800 and i totalled the car with 54000 ...........but the water pump in the maxima is completely isolated from the motor - its very hard to reach, when they took out the faulty pump, that thing looked like it was brand new
