that grill looks sweet!!! IMO it would look better if you painted the hood release mechanism behind it black also.

It may be the camera, the angle or the light, but it does not look real good. The mesh is set so far back in.

I had thoughts of this idea myself.. but now that I saw it done I don't think it looks all that good.. sorry. Don't get me wrong, it's different, which is nice.. but it just leaves too much empty room there. looks like something is needed.
slap a hamburger emblem in the middle

i am just wondering how you cut out the cross bar and made it so smooth, there is no trace of it ever being there

it looks kinda like the Kamei grilles they have for VWs and stuff.

IMO is the best looking replacement grille I've seen for our cars.

Much better than those chrome shiny things with lots of horizonal bars.

I think a GTR emblem would look nice in the center or at least a
Nissan emblem.

That’s exactly where I got the idea, I think I saw an A4 with it on and though this might look good. I also like the fact that no one else has done this and I knew I was going to get mixed felling, but to each his own. I LOVE the way the grill looks and I might later on add something to it, but ill see.

DaThrillr: if you can find a picture of Jeff from Maximum Tuning’s car I think he has something similar to your grill idea

And as for how to do it, I wish I took some pictures while I was doing it, because it’s hard to explain how I cut it out. But if you look at the bar you can cut the bar out pretty easy just keep checking the back to make sure you don’t cut anything that might split the grill in two (I used a Dremel). After that it’s some sanding and then I used Bondo to cover up the holes that the bar made on the sides. After sanding that down, I striped all the paint to the plastic, painted every thing but the sides black and then I painted the side’s body color. And for the mesh I used the HD gutter mesh, cut it to fit, painted it black and then used metal wire to tie it on. It’s hard to explain without pictures or without seeing it up close.

If any one wants to try it, ill be glad to help.

Here is a link to my car. I did the same thing about 8 months ago. I haven't been on the org that long so not that many people knew.

I had a GTR symble on there when I first made it, but I try to stay away from rice so changed it back to nissan.

I think it looks pretty good.
I'm all for anything that sets your car apart, makes it uniqely "yours".
I agree, you should paint the stuff behind the mesh black though so you don't see it as much.
And I agree, a burger or maybe a GTR logo
(please don't flame me on that) would help too.

I was considering something similar, but the more I looked at it
the harder it seemed it would be to make it work.
So, give. Howdyadoit?

What I did was dremyl (i'm sure there is something faster) the center out. this will leave a void on each side where the bar was. I then fiberglassed behind the hole and then the front. You might need to fiberglass the parts where the webs attached to the bottom of the grill, because it is hard to get it completely flat. Bondo does not seem to work well because the grill becomes flimsy with the center section out. you also have to take into consideration for the hood latch. I used stucco mesh for the grille mesh and painted it black.

i was thinking about putting an SE emblem on the left middle, either chrome or black.

and visionmax do u have a close up of your bumber, i cant tell if you did anything to it, like combine the mid and lower opening of the bumber.

Right now i am at work, So tomorrow i may be able to get to the pics. The front bumper was cut and fiberglassed to have a bigger opening in the front. This only took about 3 hours with the bumper off. There is basically a line that appears straight that i cut. I actually cut it with a box cutter and sheet metal pliers! Anyway it is real easy and probably would only cost about $30. As for the grille, I got one used from car-part.com for $40 and worked on that one while my stock one was still on the car. The sides were custom too. Yours looks great, by the way.

i like it.

the only thing i don't like is where your license plate is. i know cops would probably give you trouble with it off but i think it just looks like a bucktooth down there. other than that, looking good!
