got the max up to maybe 105 then had to turn around this bend. where the hell do you guys find road to get up to 140. i want to see what my max has but don't have the road to do it. also i live in jersey so im definately afraid of the poor road conditions and the fuzz creeping up on me. it's cool though cause im sure i can outrun them in the max. hah. too many deer around my neck of the woods too. oh well ill have to takeit to the track ..

I'm from jersey too...rt 24 has a few good strait aways and not to many cops....it's been a while, but I had it up to 130-135...i didn't want to go any fast because I didn't want to mess anything up...i was reving at like 5k or 5 1/2k...if i didn't care about blowning the engine, it could probabily do 145

I was up in Baltimore a couple months ago on 795 I had it up to 134. I could have brought it up higher but something told me to cool down. It's a great road to test your speed on.

you ever try the turnpike? i know there are tons of cops. but people routinely do 90-100+. there are some sections of 295 which might allow a very brief run (don't know how fast though. drive it both ways and look for road irregularities, hiding spots. in my experience, the PA turnpike has allowed for the greatest speeds. i hear there are tons of cops there now. oh well. my car is limited anyway and the weather isn't too great. be safe.

Outside of Greensboro, NC. Came home from my parents house Sunday night...absolutely no one was out there, I got it up to ~138 and chickened out. 1998 GXE no mods.

I'm not really a fast driver...I drive no more than 78 on the fwy

but on this quiet access road by PCH, I did 130 for fun. Again I'm not a fast driver by habit, I get about 28 mpg on average. Ironically, I got a ticket for 75mph in a 70 zone...How discouraging

I hit 142 and 137 in two different runs on the same night with two of my other Maxima friends the night before that Tahoe totalled my car (at least I had one last bit of fun in it). Both times it felt really smooth, I liked that whistle that starts at around 125 and gets progressively louder. Both times were runs down 281 heading south starting at the first turnaround north of 1604. That place is great because no cop can see you from the access roads because the access roads are all way above the freeway and you'll hit 140 and still have time to slow down by the time you reach the first on-ramp where a cop can see you.

Okay...I did this legally, on the Autobahn...it doesn't get too much better than this - 143 mph, measured by my GPS versus the speedometer which was indicating way past 140. I was running with an Audi TT when I hit that speed.

I topped out at 115 in 4th gear. i was racing a trd solara on the new jersey turnpike. could have hit at leat l35-140 that day but our radar detectors told us there was trouble up ahead so we had to slow down alot, and fast at that to or both the driver of the solara and myself would have been pulle over.

Yup

I hit 140 bone stock, on two different roads. One was at night and I only passed a car after I had shut down and was going about 100. The other time, there were several cars on the road. Yes, I passed an explorer in the lane directly right of me going close to 140...Wasn't great, but I was surprisingly NOT scared...I noticed that whistle at 125, also. Interesting. I do kinda feel bad about staying WOT with the engine turning close to 6 grand. Plus there is a slight paranoia factor with the H-rated tires and all. On the first road, there is like a <1% risk of cops (it's a connector highway...only a few miles long), so that wasn't the issue.
Oh, btw, haven't gotten a single ticket yet, or been pulled over for speeding at all, for that matter.
Knock on wood (seriously....all my friends are pissed )

Jersey

I'm up in north Jersey. In my old car(98 carolla), I hit 100mph on the parkway from exit 163 and up to 171. I had to slow down cause that car was rockin' like a boat, guess it could handle it. But I haven't had gotten a chance to try out my max yet(damn snow.) But when the weather is will, I'll give it a go.

well I hit 150km/h in the Maxima at around 3AM on Hiway 404. Would've gone higher but my parents were in the car and noticed the speedometer rising...

.......now you know why I'm not allowed to drive the Max alone...=)

Was it already in 4th by 132 or churning in 3rd?
I am curious if anybody with a stock auto has topped 135.

Fastest I gone so far is 136 but it was red lining so I wasn't able to go any faster.... Hopefully after I get some mods done to it. I'll be able to get up to 160

My 98 GXE is a bone stock automatic w/~87K highway miles, when I hit 138 MPH this weekend, 140MPH was just a few seconds away when I chickened out but the car was still pulling. 135 should be reachable w/just about any stock auto if you car is in tune and if you have the Comfort and Convenience Package to get rid of that nasty governor. I did replace the terrible stock Toyos w/ a set of Bridgestone Potenzas tho.

The fastest I've gone was 137 on a flat stretch of highway between Las Vegas and Mesquite. I had to slow down because my wife was freaking out, or I probably could have gone faster.

Last week heading back from Baltimore on I-95 I had my speedo buried as far as it would go... passed a Trooper in the North bound lane (95 was divided by concrete barriers) helping a disabled car I guess, because there was a tow truck there also. Never let the foot off the gas for another mile then finally coasted it down to 75 when I hit the ramp to the Beltway. I wish somebody can calculate my speed or radar me- not PO-PO of course. I think I was easliy doing 150+, but not sure.

Tim

95 SE 5speed, Supercharged, Akimoto intake, Stillen Y-Pipe, Greddy Exhaust, Elibach, 17" ACE Monacos, Stillen SMX grill, Clear front and rear lenses and Hyperwhite bulbs all over.. 168,000 miles and in the Shop right now for a new water pump and timing and cam chains! DAMN!!!

My car has a governor on it so it is limited to 188 mph, at 5500 RPMs in fifth gear. Few times I disconnected my odo from the trans, and I was flying at 6600-6700 RPMs, I figure that's got to be 130.

I used to live in Texas. I found a *long* staightaway with no driveways, no crossroads, no pickup trucks, and no cops. I did 145 mph [estimated], probably not any more than that. I don't think I had much left at that point, either. If I had had another 10 miles of straight road and a big fart, I might have wrung out another 1 mph...

I was on of the maxima buddies from Ant97se's post a few pages back so I too have hit 142mph on a stretch of road on hwy 281 in San Antonio.

The car was real smooth and I felt really confident. The road starts to get a little hilly and cops can start hiding so I haven't gotten any higher than that.

Does anyone have any idea how high a 99se will actually reach?
