I,ve heard many different opinions about cutting springs to lower a car. My intentions would only to lower the front end 1/2-1 inch just to get rid of the 4X4 look. Any comments on this. I already have a set of lowering springs on now but I am going to raise the car back up until I drive it on a daily basis. It is the family car and their are places I,m not willing to take it (the beach, certain friends who live in bfe) because it,s a real hassle. TYIA

It would be very hard to cut the stock springs to get that little of a drop. Also your performance will be horrible. You better have good struts.

What kind of lowering springs on on the car now. I heard sus. tech. do not lower the car that much, maybe you could try those.. Cutting the springs is the worst way to go. I did it on my 3rd gen max and the performance and ride was horrible. Also very scary..

I have Progress Tech. and it lowered the front end close to 2 inches. When I drive the car on a daily basis I,ll then install them back on cause I do like the way it looks.

David,

Never every cut a spring unless you REALLY know what you are doing. Designing of springs is an exact science. When you cut the spring, you change the spring rates in an unpredictable manner. Never cut springs... it's a horrible thing to do.

If yuo want to lower the car less, try some Eibach or H&R springs.

Don't cut your springs...

believe me, any gain in appearance is lost big time in stability and performance.

Don't ever do that!!! it hurts performance and bounces WAY 2 MUCH, same goes with "torching" your springs, it also makes them weak., your springs that is.
