Seriously now, there should be another set of FAQs, but has all this nonsense listed that SHOULDNT be asked. Its very annoying, coming onto the Org, and into 4th gen, just to see 39847 posts about all these Ebay mods and crap.

Y u do you said this is nonesense. Isn't the guy selling it saying that it will fit a Maxima? I would know what you are saying about cheap mods like intake sensor and crap like that, but this is no sensor we re talking about an engine swap here. I just never herd of a maxima with a skyline engine before. u should just save your coments in case you see another intake mod sensor post!

with enough money anything is possible!

though a maxima with a skyline engine would probably end up being more like a skyline with a maxima body.

A long time ago someone did convert their car to all wheel so if you did that it could be possible but you would also need to get the skyline tranny too.

not possible.
it's an inline 6 twin turbo. it'd have to be a right hand drive maxima for one. you can't run a steering column assembly through the left turbo. not to mention that the engine mounts wouldn't line up. I could see it possibly happening in a 300zx, or even a 240sx if it were the RWD skyline

i am not disagreeing with any of you. but you could redesign the engine bay... need skyline tranny, modded undercarrige, drivetrain, basically everything, and for that price you might as well just go to japan, buy a skyline and ferry it to the US and pay off a customs agent.

I'll take 10,000 dollar bills and stick it on the engine and see if it'll make my car run.

i agree with this, RWD the tranny is facing backwards correct. Where is the tranny gonna go, no room, plus where are you gonna run the drive shaft through, the b pipe .. i don't think so, not possible

Its possible. Major Mods have to be done as allready noted though. If the SR20DET engine can be fitted into the Altima which is front wheel drive and the SR20 is normally RWD ( the bluebird SSS A.K.A. the altima without the sr20 in U.S. form) The Bluebird is AWD in Australia. The entire swap costs about 5 G's. So for a Skyline engine into a Max....... mucho more!

Anything is possible. Ever watch Monster garage on discovery channel or is it TLC? Anyway...if Jesse James and his crew can turn a limo into a firetruck. I'm sure he can put that RB26DETT into a maxima. Call him up and ask him how much will he charge to do this project What?? You don't have his number. Good luck to you then.

hmmm are you guys sure thats an RB26DETT??

lookes like an RB25DET- RWD tranny is available for it

just take out your radiator and your whole front end and get a custom fiberglass front end molded life may be a little easier fitting the engine in

That isn't a GT-R...

And carnal_c30 is right. That is an RB25, and the car is a GT25, at best. The RB26 does not have a whole engine cover, only a red valve cover. Additionally, the grille is slightly different from the GT-R.

If you look at the picture of the dash, you will notice the steering wheel does not say "GT-R" in the center. There is only a three-pod gauge cluster in the center of the dash. The R34s had the option of a video screen in place of the cluster if you got GPS, but the "GT-R" has a different system that measures EGTs, oil pressure, lateral-g, etc.

Btw, $4000 for an RB25 is a ripoff. You can probably find an RB26 for less than that. It might be from an R32 or R33 rather than an R34, but least it would be a real RB26.

The SR20DET in the rwd Silvia chassis is...rwd. The Bluebird and Pulsar GTi-R, however, are fwd chassis cars with awd. Therefore, their SR20DETs can be swapped into fwd cars like our Altima, Sentra, and G20.
