5 speed would be ok and having the VLSD is nice too..

how hard is it to find a 5 speed I30t?

i say go with the infiniti 5spd and if your wallet doesn't allow that go with the max 5spd ... you'll love it

 

why would you choose a 98/99 over a 97 maxima?

 

I found my 96 I30t 5-speed for less than most similar Maxima's were going for. The owner could not sell the thing for ****. Every time a person came to look they were an older or middle aged person who did not want a manual tranny. The market for that type of car does not want 5-speeds. I got it for more than a $1,000 less than private party.
The hard part is finding one. 1% or less were made with 5-speeds.

 

i think the autos had probs in the 97s.. did they not?

anything bad with manual gearbox for the 97?

what about ext features, something about the tail lights?

trying to get the one with the least amount of possbile headaches.

 

I got a 1997 I30 auto, no problems in 75k miles. Id get a 98 5spd, it also has a VLSD. The only problem with the I30 is that you cant fit an american body kit on it and you cant put a CF hood on it. Besides those 2 things all the maxima mods work on it.
