stock loaded 96 SE climate control problems
Okay, gotta sk for my mom. She has a stock 96 SE, loaded. The climate control is freaking out; the heat doesn't come out of the bottom vents anymore. Is this electrical or mechanical? Anyone know? I'm not an auto-climate-control person.
Listen for the servo motor (underneith dash by gas pedal) to move when you switch to the bottom positions..does it work in the other positions? If it works in the other positions the motor should be fine.

someone is helping me by sending me a wiring diagram for the fans and climate control...hopefully I can tell more by that...more news soon. Tomorrow I will be at my mom's anyway, changing her oil.
okay...this is what I gather from the FSM, from which someone kindly emailed me the climate control section:
MODE DOOR MOTOR
The mode door motor, attached to the heater unit, directs
discharge air to various outlets. It is controlled by the auto
amplifier.
Now this is located behind the dash...does anyone know how to get the dash off there? I've never taken the dash off a Max before.

You can get to one of them by removing just the entire center console.
I believe it sits on top of a black or white box (heater unit) and it is right behind the auto amp.
You can also remove the entire dash..which is a pain in the ****!
