Installation on strobe lights question?

I tried installing strobe lights into my corner lights yesterday and encountered some problems. After drilling the wholes in the corner lights and putting the strobes in place I had to run the wires through the fire wall. This is where I think I went wrong. I went to the hardware store to get more wire and I ended up getting this really stiff wire that is bendable put not as weak as the wire they gave me in the package. If I got the wrong wire would that effect the power getting to the strobes? Also it tells me to hook up the wire to a 12v power source fuse, which fuses are 12v and how to I get the wire to go into the fuse? Thanks for the help guys.

Use 12-14 guage wire. Connect the Red wire to an inline fuse, and then continue onto the (+) side on the battery. and then you just need to ground the negative and you're good to go.
