tranny ques

tranny ques

I was wondering if manually shifting an auto is bad for the tranny? I know i could prolly search, but i want some real feedback....also anyone know if a vb would make me any faster if i did manual shift my auto? Thanks for the info

no, not bad for upshifting, but downshifting from 2 to 1st at like 40 MPH, than its bad.

vb would make you shift faster. it makes the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts harder and faster.

the speed of the actual shift is the same in D as it is when you manualy control it. the only advantage i can see to manually shifting is if our maximas had a tranny CPU that adjusted itself to remember how you shift and shift accordingly. example: i drive rough in my car so it'll shift at a higher rpm even if i'm not flooring it. my mom doesn't drive hard in her maxima. when i drive her car, i can give it the same amount of gas i would in mine and it shifts at a lower RPM. please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, this is just an educated guess.

thanks for the input, does that mean it'd be bad to take the O/D off at like 60 mph and have it shift back into 3rd?
