Clutch?? what clutch??
Well my 95 Maxima clutch is FRIED... its been going day by day. I was praying it would last longer because money is tight around the holidays.
Its to the point where I can let the clutch out in 1st gear, with the motor idling, and ebrake up, and it won't stall or move or anything. Also I can basicly rev it in gear, and nothing will happen.
I have a feeling since its been going out the past 3 weeks, my flywheel is fried. So I'm sensing a new $244 flywheel from nissan.
Here are my options:
*Hopefully having a friend install whichever clutch I get for ~$250*
1. Pick up a Exedy Clutch kit for $125 for a total of $375
2. Get an ACT street clutch kit for $260 - $300 for a total of ~$550
3. Go to dealer and get OEM clutch for $260 (is that right?) for a total of $510
All these prices don't include any type of flywheel work. So maxima.org members, what should I do?!?! HELP PLEASE!

I say get the OEM clutch... I remember reading a thread a few days ago about the preponderance of ACT/Centerforce clutch owners who have blown a gear (usu. 2nd gear if I recall correctly). You might wanna look into that before you buy a clutch.

1) There's absolutely nothing wrong with the ACT Street clutch. It's probably one of the best clutches you can put in a Maxima. It holds lots of power, but from a driveability standpoint, behaves more like an OEM disk. Come clutch time, this will be the one for me.
2) People who destroyed their transmissions did so with the ACT racing applications (4-puck or 6-puck), which have a MUCH harsher engagement than the Street disk & are not recommended. (Btw, some of these people were also boosted, which when paired with the race-clutch, accellerated the demise of their gearboxes).
3) Get the ACT Street disk. OEM is a waste of $. You can do better for the same or less $ with the ACT. It's an excellent product.
