Update: I noticed some clicking around the TPS Sensor... is that normal?

I have had this problem with this car starting at about 34k/miles since purchasing it new in Nov/96. Its a 1997 SE, auto.

Here's the skinny:

When coming to a stop, the car will shut off. (i have the shift to neutral/restart move down pat) This doesnt happen all the time, but at least 3/4 times a week. Sometimes when coming to a stop i can see the tach drop and then the engine will catch itself and swing the rpms up and then level out at idle. Also, the car exhibits the same behaviour when shifting the automatic a lot, like when pulling in and out of tight parking spaces.....

Also, sometimes when i try to start the car....it will just turn and not fire....or it will sound like it is trying to fire at the wrong time.... Usually will start after the second or third attempt though. Sometimes after a couple of tries the check engine light will come on...but when i plug the scanner in to read the code it reads no faults and then the light magically turns off.

Things i have done to remedy this...:

-Tune up
-Cleaned the throttle body
-Changed PCV Valve

Note: I took the car to Nissan dealership shortly before the warranty ran out....they said they took care of the problem.... from what I can see... they ran a wire from the black wire on the harness for the mass air sensor and ran it to the engine block and grounded it there......

Any help you guys can provide is greatly beneficial and is much appreciated.....
