Need help with clock electronics

I have a '95 Max; bought it new in the fall of '94. It only has 74,000 miles on it. I've been trying to figure out why the clock has quit working...I've even replaced it once (Thanks to Brian Davis in Texas). The display will work normal for a while. Then it will go black; and intermittently light up and then go out again. The time is always right. It's just that it won't display. The replacement clock worked for awhile; then it too, went out (it's on sometimes and then quits). My question is this: is there some type of electronic "driver" that feeds the clock? I'm guessing there's something else that's affecting the operation of the clock. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do besides buying a "stick-on" at the local auto store (I'm a stickler for making sure everything works properly.) Hopefully someone "out there" can provide some insight to correcting this problem. Any and all feedback is welcome.
Thanks much. daryl hill in Bismarck, ND. gencam@btigate.com

If the time on the clock doesn't get reset, then I would think there is a wire loose that controls the light intensity.

May want to check on that.
