4th Gen vs. 2k2-2k3 Max?

I was just wondering out of curiosity if a 4th gen can beat one of those with a couple of major mods like y-pipe, intake, cat-back??

skeelo has a 96 GLE converted 5 speed with hybrid/stillen filter, cattman y-pipe and KYB's and says he beat a 2k2 Auto (stock) which doesn't sound impossible since auto's are slower and the 2k2 is heavier...but the 6 speed, we'll need a miracle aka S/C to beat

Intake + UDP + Y pipe + B pipe + 2K muffler or aftermarket + MEVI = a 4th gen with just about, almost, nearly the same power to weight ratio as a stock 5th gen 3.5. Of course if the 5th gen 3.5 adds those same mods, seeya

Pls note that I said power to weight, not plain power. Power/Weight is the most important ratio anyway. A 500 hp Viper that weighs 6 tons is goin' nowhere fast.

I agree with the power to weight ratio. The new max's are heavier, higher torqued engines, but the 4th gen's are lighter, not much different on engine, besides, I think a 4th gen just looks and feels better, 'cause if you test drive a new max, you can feel the difference and it ain't the same as a 4th gen.

I posted a while back about my race against a stock 02 GLE. My username was PAULSPEED95. No one really believed me and I got flamed pretty bad. But anyway, I'll sum it up:

My car:95 gxe auto
mods:FrankenCar intake, 17" rims/tires
passengers: alone

Friends car:02 Gle auto
mods:stock
passengers: 2 people including driver

Race 1: 0-40mph(ran out of room, was in parking lot ); side by side the whole time. Niether of us brake launched.

Race 2: 15-55mph; lost by one car length.

thats fairly rare, is not every day lightly modded 4th gen autos are beating or hanging close with 2k2's, but good race. most 5speed stock max's can hang close with a 2k2 auto and with a few mods ie. y-pipe, intake, catback, can beat them. and there are quite a few N/A 4th gens on the board that can pull on a lot of 6speed's too. but that usually requires a good driver, 5speed, intake, y-pipe, exhaust,SS, and in some cases MEVI

I agree my wife in her new 03(broken in) and I lined up in my 97 both stock and auto all I can say is she tore me a new A******! She got me from the start and pulled the whole way and she knows how to launch that thing. I noticed those things can burn some rubber if you just gun them from a start 2002-2003 autos. Hers definately feels like a high 14's in the 1/4 auto. I wonder if the 04 is going to be any quicker with the slight gain in power/tq and added weight. We already know all of the 3.5 cars G35,Alti,02-03 Maxi all run similair times(straightline)so I dont expect any dramatic change from what we have been seeing.
