gauges for the 99 seem to be hard to find.

Have you tried the ones at SouthwestAutoworks.com? I believe delio(one of the moderators) has them on his 99.

It's pretty hard to explain the whole process, first you need to pop out with a small flat-head, the cruise control, dimmer, security little blocks and the other one which I forget what it's for but there are four in total. There will be a couple of screws behind those blocks so you will have to remove them and be careful about not dropping them in there, it might take you a while to find them. Then remove the two phillip screws located at the top of the cluster and once those screws are removed and the steering wheel is moved all the way down, the cluster cover should come out. Then you will see the plastic casing of the cluster and the phillips screws that keep it in place, you need to remove those and the cluster will become free enough where you need to disconnect the disconnections from the back, be careful don't force anything but they should come out easily. Now once you disconnect the connections the cluster becomes free and you can take it out. Separate the cluster clear cover from the cluster itself and then once you do that you are ready to lay the ones over it. I used clear tape to make the gauges sit in place, it was easy. Then you need to find the wire that is connected to your parking lights so that you can tap into them and give the new gauges life, you will need a test light. Then you need to make some little cuts at the top of the cluster itself where the new gauges are, so that the wires from the new gauges can fit through when you put the clear cluster cover back. Put everything back in the reverse order in which you took it out. Good luck and if you search you might find other instructions with pictures.

There's a nice writeup with pictures at www.MaximaDriver.com

The 99 set at SWA was $70 I think.

Gauges are different fit from 98 to 99?

Are there two different ones available at SWA, one for 98 and one for 99 or is it one set that fits both?
