Question about oil pressure sending unit that NOBODY has been able to answer!

What is the thread type of the oil pressure sending unit on a 96? I'm still trying to hook up my Autometer oil pressure gauge, but every adapter I've tried simply won't screw into the block. 1/8" NPT and 1/8" BSPT did not work. I believe it's 1/8" BSPT on the 97-99, but on my 96 it is different. Another person with a 96 on the org solved this problem, but I think he altered the thread in order to make an adapter fit. I don't want to do that. I'd like to leave the thread "in tact." So, does anyone know the thread type? I've asked this question a lot of times on here and no one ever seems to know. Also, can I simply take the oil pressure sending unit to somebody and say, "Here, measure this thread and tell me what type it is." If so, then who would I take it to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My oil pressure gauge is begging to come to life.

There are two options to persuit.

1. Take the OEM sensor to a machine shop. Get the shop to measure the thread. Now you know the spec of the thread, try to find an adaptor. If not, get the machine shop to make you one. Get it made out of brass or aluminum. I would not use stainless steel or any other grade of steel. VQ is an aluminum block so I wouldn't use anything harder than aluminum.

2. Find out the adaptor part number from people running 95/96 Stillen SC kit. Call and order the part directly from Stillen.

Stillen isn't very nice about sending parts to non-customers. That's another reason why they suck.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out a machine shop tomorrow and see if they can help me out.

Well, I went to a couple machine shops today and they were about as much help as a kick in the nuts. Now I'm trying to find out the Stillen part number. Anybody that knows this part number, please help.

It's better if you hook up with someone that bought the SC kit from Stillen. Stillen will not help you if you didn't buy the SC kit from them. They are just plain nasty when it comes to these little things.

Instead of visiting all the machine shops, call them. You can tell alot from how they respond to your question over the phone.
