I've noticed that my car lacks power when I'm rolling around (coasting) in my driveway or at streetlights. It doesn't feel too weak when driving around (though at times I wonder if it should be peppier), but I never really used to notice how powerless the car feels when I'm not giving it any gas. My father's 2001 Outback wagon (6 cyl.) rolls around by itself with MUCH more power, and even my mom's 95 accord (4 cyl.) feels better than my 95 Maxima. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? I cleaned my throttle body not too long ago and saw a tiny difference in this regard (though I did see some better performance while driving). In drive, the engine idles at around 700rpm.

mine idles the same (700rpm) but it creeps forward well enough. check your brakes for a stuck piston or something else holding it back.

clean your throttle body again and you might want to look at the fuel injectors if you lack power.

 

There's nothing wrong.

The Outback is geared much lower so it has more torque in first gear which will pull harder even at idle. Great for off road, like the car is designed for.

The Honda is lighter and idles around 850 because it's a 4 banger. The combo of those two things will pull it along nicely at idle.

The Maxima is part luxury car. Know any Lexus that wants to rev forward at idle? I'd rather not have my car pulling me around when I'm creaping in traffic. I want it to roll with a neutral feeling, not like I'm fighting with it to stay still. My idle speed in drive is 600. You can bearly hear the motor running and it's smooth as silk. That makes a very comfy car.
