Vehicle Production Date

Hey Guys,

New to the forum here. Got a 97 Maxima which needs the oxygen sensor replaced. The driver side door was replaced so I don't have the vehicle identification sticker to show the manufacturing date.

Is there any other sticker/plaque to show the date, or how can I go about getting the production date off the VIN number.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Thanks
Biz

Did they replace your door or the whole side? Because the producton date is not on the the door itslef, it's part of the car, where the door closes. Check under the hood behind the power steering hose on the passenger side.Besides, just get an O2 sensor for a 97-99 Max, I think even a 95 or 96 ahould work also.

96 and 97 are not compatible as far as rear cat 02 sensors are concerned. Which 02 sensor is bad? FR heated? FL heated? Rear? If it is the either one of the front 02 sensors, those are compatible.

They replaced the door, and painted the door/pilar area. There is no sticker anywhere!

I need the rear cat sensor, and from what I have read it seems they changed the design on the 1st month production run on the 97 model run.

I looked at the plaque on the passenger side firewall, could not see any production dates!

Thanks

if you have the 97-99 design, with the different grille and tail lights, then i don't see how they could put 95-96 sensors in your car.

i believe the only max that would be questionable is the 99.5 se-l since some parts of that model are from 5th gens.

but if you have a 97, go for the 97-99 sensor.

Simple....Look under hood to the back left. Shiny chrome plaque. Tells everything! Take the VIN off and goto dealer. They will know which 02 you need. Enjoy!
