Another question about the 97 SE I am considering purchasing:

During the test drive, I noticed the engine light was on. The seller replied that his son does the oil changes at home, and when they are done at a shop, the engine light gets to reset. Is the engine light a oil change reminder as well? Does the light get reset?

all you need is a flat head screwdriver

and no the light doesnt' come on for maintenance or oil changes.. only when the ECU detects a fault with the car

 

Haha, that's the greatest BS I've ever heard in my life. If it's an option, try puling the code from the ECU, and see exactly what the problem is. If the car felt fine, hopefully it's nothing TOO serious. But tell that a-hole that your not a complete moron, and that the CEL doesn't turn on with an oil change.

 

from my experience only honda/acura have that feature...

 

what if my Check engine lights goes on and off.... on and off for about every other month or so... more less...

 

 

He fed you a line of crap. Just based on that one statement I'd steer clear of that car.
