Hey guys, those of you that know me know im only 18 and self employed and thats how i pay for my max, but i think my big *** payment was pretty stupid considering im self employed and could turn that huge payment into more money instead of paying off interest.... So im thinking of pulling a Russ and getting rid of it... What kind of car do you guys recommend?? Im thinking older model maxima. Like a 95 or 96 SE or I30. Probably black too. I always loved those and wanted one before the 5th gen ever came out... Plus they have a little more after market support plus who cares about how fast it is. I never go to the track and street racing hardly happens here in tempe Az. So what should i do guys and how much you think im gonna lose trading the car this early???
And all you guys that know about financing and stuff, what is the best way to take care of this?? Should i sell the car? or trade it or what???

You should keep your Maxima. If you sell or trade an almost-new car you will take a real pounding on the depreciation. If you want to know how bad, use any of the on-line used car pricing services. I like Edmunds:
http://www.edmunds.com/used/nissan.html

The only reason to sell is if you can't keep up the payments and face imminent reposession. In that case you should sell in order to protect your credit rating. A good credit rating might not seem important at this stage of life, but in a few years it will be.

18 and self employed. You have a 2000 maxima? Do you mind me asking, what line of work are you in. I.e what business do you own. I'm just curious.

Hmmm...

Don't sell it because ou will lose a ton of money. Although you site is under construction, did you get any business yet? Be careful at selling jewelry online. My dad got only three real customers from his diminutive e-business. Check out his site at http://www.singsjewelry.com

Your dads site is totaly different then what im gonna do. He is selling gold rings and stuff for like 500 bucks. I could see not getting many customers doing that.Im just selling little stuff like body jewelry and sterling silver at prices way cheaper than the compitition. Spencersgifts.com looks like they are my biggest competition. Even though im selling jewelry its pretty different from your dads site..

I recently gradutaed from College and got a 60 grand a year job. I waited to benefit from my hard work....finally paid off too! I hate to see people messing up their credit at such an early age, whatever you do...dont mess your credit up dude. You will need it when you start your Real life.

so true.. he asked this on the 5th gen bbs.. got plenty of heat for it.. its not worth it.. keep the car make the payments and learn from this experience of yours.. if anything else.. maybe a 2nd job could help you till your website really gets moving.. just an idea
