Testor's Candy Apple Translucent model paint. Tiny can, big results. I probably applied one too many coats, as the first couple coats were enough if I had just stopped to stare at it a while. I didn't even remove my lenses, just taped it off carefully, used a lot of newspaper for drift, prepped the lens w. rubbing alcohol and started sprayin'. Couple hours later - viola! Completely new look.

Gotta follow up w. the smoke to tone down the brightness of all the lenses, make it look a little more... uh... dark.

my thoughts exactly... that and people thinking the maxima is a race car. but really... redding out your reverse lights is a GREAT mod. look how much it helps vision backing up.

I was being sarcastic and you missed it. What kind of logic is not wanting to own a car because somebody else modded their car in a way you don't agree with?

sarcasm?? i didnt miss anything. it was a stupid remark. i wanted to get a better car.. its also not AS common to boot. clear corned maximas are everywhere these days. that skyline bodykit doesnt help the situation. i mean, it isnt anything even close to a skyline... hell, i think my S4 is closer... it is AWD and twin turbo.

Never mind man. You're still missing my point and not answering my question. Forget it.

Go to any hobby shop where they sell model cars/airplanes/boats/tanks/robotrons/RC cars/whatever. $3.50/can.

The rest is as I described: masking tape and newspaper to tape off the amber part of the lens and keep the overspray off the rest of the car (I left my trunk open), maybe an x-acto knife to trim excess masking tape away from the amber part. Then use a lint-free cloth to clean the amber lens with rubbing alcohol (or you can do that before you tape and a once-over after to be sure). Then, start spraying with light, even strokes about 6" away from the lens. Put on a light coat, wait 1/2 hour, apply the next coat, wait another 1/2 hour, stare at it, and quit if you think it's the "redness" you want.

Here's a photo after I had done some painting. Don't get in a hurry like I did. I applied the 2nd coat too soon after the first and started to get runs & "orange peel". Shoulda known better, I've done enough painting.

The "white" tape is regular masking tape (1") the blue is the easy-to-remove painter's tape so I didn't have the regular masking tape goo any more than necessary. Do what works for you.

" was that supsoed to be a threat of somesort??????

P.S. the 911 twin turbo(AWD) sittin in my garage is one hella lot closer to the skyline than anything you will EVER own.

Let people mod their cars. Express your opinion, but don't be a **** about it. I like what you have done Rufus, Props.

im joking around with you. i know what its like to run out of $$ on rims. i have some 17's for sale still actually. enkei RS5s with under 4k on them. Thank GOD no GT-R badges... how many people will get offended with that one.. FameMax and his Altezza's he is a friend of mine.. we actually worked on his stock tails tonight.

on a side note, do you really have an AWD 911 tt?? i dont doubt it, but if you do, what are you doing with a Maxima as an every day car? i would have thought you'd have rims. if the porsche is your dads or something, thats cool... thats my absolute dream car, im getting there.

thanks The Gange, and yes my father owns a 911 twin turbo, i have to pay for the mods on my car, he gives me no help financially wise, so $1000 for rims is a lot for a 17 year old to come up with!

Jeep, you say you have centercaps. Can I see the centercap or the wheel with a centercap on? What is the weight of the rim? What is the weight of the rim/tire combo? Thanks.

Sorry, can't help you with #1. Keep looking. Maybe start at http://www.testors.com/dealer_countries.asp

"Light" as in "not heavy or thick". Spray on only the lightest amount needed to get the coverage you want. Too much and the paint gets thick and less translucent.

Tell me what ya think.

Later
