Gotta follow up w. the smoke to tone down the brightness of all the lenses, make it look a little more... uh... dark.

I didn't even remove my lenses, just taped it off carefully, used a lot of newspaper for drift, prepped the lens w. rubbing alcohol and started sprayin'. Couple hours later - viola! Completely new look.

The rest is as I described: masking tape and newspaper to tape off the amber part of the lens and keep the overspray off the rest of the car (I left my trunk open), maybe an x-acto knife to trim excess masking tape away from the amber part. Then use a lint-free cloth to clean the amber lens with rubbing alcohol (or you can do that before you tape and a once-over after to be sure). Then, start spraying with light, even strokes about 6" away from the lens. Put on a light coat, wait 1/2 hour, apply the next coat, wait another 1/2 hour, stare at it, and quit if you think it's the "redness" you want.
Here's a photo after I had done some painting. Don't get in a hurry like I did. I applied the 2nd coat too soon after the first and started to get runs & "orange peel". Shoulda known better, I've done enough painting.
The "white" tape is regular masking tape (1") the blue is the easy-to-remove painter's tape so I didn't have the regular masking tape goo any more than necessary. Do what works for you.

"Light" as in "not heavy or thick". Spray on only the lightest amount needed to get the coverage you want. Too much and the paint gets thick and less translucent.

Tell me what ya think.
