engine is making loud gurgle

engine is making loud gurgle

its a 99 auto w/45,000 miles. When idling or accelerating, theres a really loud gurgle sounds kinda like a v8. the sound is coming from the engine near the manifold. Can some1 plz help, i need to fix the problem be4 tomorrow

theres no sound coming from the muffler (abnormal sounds) or the rear of the car. Its juss this really weird gurgling sound from the engine bay

Check your air box to make sure it's clamped closed. You may be hearing the intake if it's not shut tight.

juss checked the airbox clamps, they're on tight. I dunno what else could be the problem. Nothing looks abnormal to the eye

This may not be for the maxima I'm not to sure about fuel injected vehicles but On a carburated engine that is a sign that the timing is off, but this isn't carburated i may be wrong.

I've heard that the 99s have swirl valves, in or by the intake manifold. They swirl the air as its going into the combustion chamber to help promote better emissions. Could that be it?

On a side note, it's interesting how these swirl valves sound a whole lot like those 'tornado air' devices 'as seen on TV.' Hmmmm.

thanks i got it fixed at the dealer. the EGR valve was cracked
