problems after painting calipers..
I asked a friend to paint my calipers for me today ( i suck at painting anything) he said he would, and now when i get on my brakes it seems like i have to put more pressure on the pedal to stop. could he have gotten paint somewhere he shouldn't have? what can i do to solve this??? it seems like my pedal is just spongy...Thanks for all your help...

You probably just need to bleed your brakes.

Worse case though, change the pads out and either turn or just clean the rotors with acetone + a real light sandpaper.

High-temp paint on the rotors would be bad. Or if he painted the edges of the pads themselves... also bad.

thanks so much...this is really worrying me...will take a look and see. he used just bronze spray paint from autozone for the calipers...what if it is on the back of the pads, like on the backing plates or stuck between the pad and caliper??? I have some clear coat high temp stuff- would you spray them with that too?
Once again thanks,
Mike

it looks like he neglected to do so. i could kill him. the only reason i asked is because i can't paint anything without screwing it up and he painted his.

If not, that cancels out the brake bleeding theory.

I just talked to him and he said that he removed the one on the drivers side, but then decided to put it back on. The brakes feel some better, or i may just be getting used to it. would i still need to bleed the brakes??
Thanks
Mike

Your car will not brake properly until it is removed.
