Does carfax really check stuff out? I know my car has been in at least 2 accidents and I try not to bring it to the dealer for stuff. I got my 90k tune up somewhere else and they sent me letter after letter saying they don't have any records on my car or something. I wish i had my old mustang VIN because i KNOW that odometer was rolled back. Anyway, medicsonic, can you check my car too? Car fax does make a difference. I had a 95GXE and noticed that sometimes the odometer would stick. I checked it on Carfax and found out that the odometer went from 93k miles to 60k miles. I traded her in a week later for a 99SE

 

Carfax occasionally updates its database from the DMV databases in every state. It only checks to see if the car has been in an accident bad enough that it was totaled, it doesn't keep track of bad accidents where the car was fixed or repainted. Any how there the Carfax report on the VIN you gave me.

Well, I guess this proves that carfax really doesn't tell you anything about the car. I guess the only real use for it is if you are buying a car from Newark and the guy selling it tells you to hold two wires together to start it.
