I did a search... I was looking for a thread by Daniel B Martin about running your plugs one step cooler.

I'm wondering if this is a good option for my ride.

If anyone knows of the thread, or can tell me more about this "mod" I'm all ears.

 

Unless you have power adders (Nitrous/turbo/supercharger) it won't net you any additional HP. Plus they may even foul on you if you do mostly short distance driving...

 

if you run it without stuff Chunger said.. you will lose hp.. i use to run 1 step colder off nitrous and my car was dog slow..

 

Someone said the high-mileage cars need a one step colder plug. I did that (NGK copper), but haven't noticed much difference ( I do about 75% highway driving). My fuel consumption has increased, but that may be due a combo of the cold weather/new tires. I plan on changing to proper range (copper) in spring & see what happens.

 

The only reason to go with a colder plug is to decrease chances of detonation/preignition... If you aren't having any problems stick with the factory heat range...

I would use factory plugs (platinum) or iridium plugs which should last 60K miles...
