I dynoed the MAX

Disclaimer: somehow my Absolute Pressure Sensor came partially disconnected before my run. I'm not sure how it happened...but oh well. I doubt it affected the numbers greatly; the car ran fine haha.

THE NUMBERS:
will scan dyno from work on Monday or Tuesday...whenever the new USB scanner comes in.
166.0 hp/178.6 tq

SO, the car gained minor power from the few bolt-ons I have for that, and it's running healthily for the time being. yay.

My friend's 944t (NOT STOCK) blew a head gasket ... but not until after making 350hp. Good and bad...he needed to replace some seals in there anyway, so uhm...sorta good. And now he can put a stage 2 setup on it ... whatever.

The 340 made INSANE (read: 400) amounts of torque; it made enough to.........tow itself I guess lol. Air/fuel was off, so hp was underrated. Soon the new cam will make better hp muaha.

As for my car...I wish I could have those cams. A focus dynoed up with headers, cam, exhaust, intake amd made some decent power (142 hp). Me want cams! I need to start a donation box!

It was cool to see the dyno technology at work; I've never been to one before.

Bretttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt! No, they drove it. They shifted it manually of course. It was okay. He did a good job. Taegost had his car there too, but I leave him to post his own numbers.

Here is a link to my loud car:

Re: I dynoed the MAX

Those are good numbers. Are the mods listed in your sig current? You did that without a y-pipe?

No, I was standing on the other side of the car. That's probably Heather, taking pictures, or Jason, taking vids.

I did this to make sure my car wasn't running poorly. I never realized how loud that intake/y is...yow!

I f you really feel the need to see what I look like, click [http://www.nemaxima.net/lime/besen5.jpg]here[/url]. I was drunk in Germany haha!

Congrats on the first dyno Erica. Good numbers, I think
Could you post your results in the dyno section too - there are only a few 4th gen auto's on there.

bags553 pulled 177hp, and 1MAX2NV pulled 157hp both with similar setups to you.

Pretty cool. That gives me an idea of what my car would do. I pretty much have the same setup except for the UDP. I may dyno when I get my VI put it.

I was looking into getting the MEVI, but for what I want to do, I doubt it would help.

me too

I just got my 98' 5-speed dynoed for the first time yesterday. It made decent numbers with just intake + exhaust (177.4hp / 195.8tq). My power curve plunges after peak though. Time for a M.E.V.I, i guess.

What do you want to do? Recently people have discovered the VI doesn't help that much without a ECU upgrade. So you'd have to factor that in the cost. The HP per dollar ratio goes down because of that. You'd also have to consider it takes months and months to get one after ordered.. =( I just wanted it because I wanted to make up for the 4th gen maxima's lack of high end.

how has your max been starting up as of late with these frigid temps, is it ever so slightly hesistant in the start up?

Deezo has met me; he can tell you I'm not pretty! muaha.

Anyway, no hesitation in the cold; the car is garaged at night, but it's outside all day long at work. I used to have some hesitation when it was outside, but after the alternator recall, it's fine.

Wow, you can most definitely see the differences that different mods can make... when I dyno'd my car (I have PR CAI, Stillen Y, custom 2.5" Exhaust), I broke out a 181.6hp / 194.0 tq.

When I dyno'd stock this past summer, I made 156hp / 170-something tq. so you can tell there was quite a difference...and no, I'm not stopping yet, I wanna try and at least break 200hp

Do you have this in another format? For some reason, my computer has issues when it comes to real player..

I wish I had a vid of how loud my car was, beacuse I was making the Grand Prix guys kinda timid for a while

again it is HERE ... sorry for the problem.

Tom's seen me in uhm...dirty jeans!

As for the RM format, if anyone can tell me how to convert the file, I will gladly do so. I did not take the video

Stock auto's average 145-153whp while the 5spds are 157-164whp. Stock for stock a 5spd puts down around 10whp/10wtq given the same state of tune.

well it's good that my car is running healthy numbers then. I'm glad the Y produced some kind of gains, considering I paid $$ for it and it was not fun to install.

I think he means at the wheel...there's a difference between
horsepower at the wheel versus crank...that's why there's such
a difference between standard and automatics -- a standard car
uses less engine "energy" because YOU shift the car -- so, it
doesn't lose as much horsepower at the wheel as an auto.

There are plenty of people here running better than a 14.9 on a N/A Maxima. I haven't been to the track yet, but if I'm not running at least a 14.9, I'll be severely disappointed. I'm probably running at 210-220hp at the crank.

Re: me too

Those are some good numbers! Keep up the good work. Good call on the MEVI, too. I remember someone said that if you aren't doing highway running most of the time, the stock manifold would actually be better. I do a lot of highway driving, but I'm always stuck in traffic.
