Autolite Double Platinum

I just installed these in my 1996 Maxima GXE. Does anyone else have these? If so, what do you think? Are they any good? Are they really good enough to last you 5 years? (they have a 5 year unlimited mileage money back guarantee)

Previously I used Bosch Plat +4 and they sucked.

Re: Autolite Double Platinum

I use these...but be careful, I only bought these because I didn't know I could buy NGK platinums for cheaper $$$ by searching in this very .org.

I will ride like 50K more and will be dumping these cheap autolites...and people here don't like autolites/fram b/c they actually suck.

search NGK and you'll find them under $3 each in this .org.

looking at the back of the max with those emblems got me confused for a sec

almost as confusing as wondering why you have the orgs search page as your homepage

spark plugs

I did a search and saw a number of posts stating that NGK was the only way to go in the way of spark plugs. However, spending $60 on 6 plugs is outrageous. I mean, it's not like the platinum is actually a decoration or something. Where do these dealers get off charging $10 - $20/ea per plug? And WHY oh WHY are you paying these con artists so MUCH for your plugs?????

NGK Coppers are what you should use. 3 bucks each at your local Nissan dealer.

No one pays that kind of $ for NGK's if they shop around for 2 minutes, online.

My motto: Never give a con-artist what he thinks he deserves.

i did some shopping and never got below $10 each for plats...i think there was dealer that had a tune up kit for $75...that was a pretty good deal for plugs, fuel, air and oil filters.

try clubplug.net if you just want plugs though....prices include shipping...but they only sell by the box...which is usually 4 or 10

I bought a set of NGK GP (gold power or "poor man") platinums...the electrode is platinum but the tab doesn't have any platinum on it...so the tab will erode in less than the 60K (i am betting 35-40K...just a fuzz better than coppers). best bang for the money is coppers though at like $2.50 online. I thought I would try the GP's just so I can tell the forum how they work (3.40 each). There is a VX platinum in the middle of the pack for like $5.50 each...the Iridiums at $7ish and then laser plats for $12...ish. I asked a teck at NGK about life of iridiums and it was only 40K in his opinion.

I have learned with everything from sleds, to cars to lawn mowers...if you engine had NGK's in it, nothing else will run as well...period....and oh yeah, bosch is crap.

I searched for NGK and couldn't seem to find a part number

Can someone post the part number for the copper and the plat plugs.

Thanx

bkr5eVX-11 is the VX platinum ...i'll have to double check the Gold power number.

make sure you stay with the "5"...thats the heat range....I thought there was a v-groove copper plug thats supposed to be pretty damn good.

NGK platinums are pricey but their recommended change is every 60k. Coppers are very cheap but you have to replace them maybe every 20k. So $2.50 x 3 $7.50 vs about $9.xx for Plats minus the hassle of changing them 2 less times.
