Intake Question

Do the air recirculation hoses have to be hooked up to the Mid pipe on a Hybrid intake?
I have a piece of 3inch polished piping that could be shortened to fit. If I will have to attach fittings to it for the hoses I'm not going to bother with trying to make it fit, but if I can use it without haveing the hoses attached then I'll use it. I'm just trying to save money here.

Thanks
Ryan

Re: Intake Question

Yes you will need those hoses. Like you said, they RECIRCULATE the air. Without them, where are you gonna put the hoses.

OR OR OR.........

You can buy 3 universal breather filters and put them where the hoses are supposed to be on the engine side. I'm not sure if the breather filters fit on the two upper hoses(the really skinny one and the one behind that) but I know it will fit one the hose closest to the hood release. I have a breather filter there.

You can put a breather on the front hose, that goes to the front valve cover, that is just a crankcase vent.

You need to have the rear hose hooked up. It is the Idle Air Control circuit. The ECU uses it to control idle speed.

You can just let the tiny little hose dangle. It is just an EGR system vent.

I thought that you might could use filters but I wasn't sure, I have 4 hoses, one is for the Tranny, but I know I don't need to have that one hooked up, Mine falls off all the time and my car runs fine. From what MZMGT says all I need to have hooked up to the intake itself is the IAC hose, I think I can make it work with just having to hook up the one hose. The piping may already have a port for one so this may not be a problem.

Thanks for the replies,

Ryan
