I dont know exactly what type, but go to Advanced Auto and they gonna have bottles of PENNZOIL, STP or Valvoline or whatever tranny fluid. You can use any of those. But they might have some tranny fluid at South Main auto and the installation fee might be including some tranny fluid too. Since you only need a little more.

Dexron is the tradename/spec for the fluid that Nissan specifies for their automatics. A conventional or synthetic fluid can meet it.

The synthetics are more stable over a wider temp. range than conventional. They will improve shift quality for you, especially when cold, and hold up to heat much better than the conventional ATF's. They can also safely be used longer than the conventional ATF. The brands I would reccomend are Amsoil, Mobil 1 and Redline. For conventionals, I don't really know which ATF might be better, I'm a diehard synthetic fan. Someone else might have more info on them.

from what I've read, stuff like Amsoil can be mixed with regular fluids (both engine oil and tranny fluid).

because Synthetics and fosil oil are comletely different in their structure, and are not meant to be mixed.
