Knock Sensor Help
Knock Sensor Help
Hey all I noticed that my gas mileage wasn't so great, not great all matter of fact, so I decided to pull some codes and the 0304 code came up, I did a lot of searches online for the KS itself and the cheapest I found it for was 107.14 this was discussed in a previous thread here on the .org as well. A lot of people say that Bosch KS is pretty much the same as the OEM if this is the case should I be hesitant purchasing a Bosch or should I just stick with the OEM for whatever reason. Also in the morning I was trying so hard to look for the Knock sensor and I was using the diagrams that I found on write ups. I can't find it! LoL, maybe I'm not looking hard enough. But if I wanted to get this installed professionally how much am I looking at. BTW, I live in the NJ/NYC area anyone know any reputable mechanics around here, or any reputable .org Member
all help is appreciated. Thanks! Oh one more thing its just the bolt, and clip that is removed during the process of swapping out correct?

Please please do a search for knock sensor install. This topic has been discussed a hundred times.
I'll help you out this much...the knock sensor is located under the intake manifold, within the "Vee" of the engine block. It is not hard to find if you look in from the drivers side, past the throttle body and down "into" the V.
Do a search, and it will answer all your questions.

I've been searching for the last 3 days and I came across a couple of write ups on how to install. I'm not asking how to install, I was asking first about the U bracket that is mentioned in one of the write ups I forget which one ( I think it was Skippys ) and second I was asking if the Bosch KS is the same and safe to use as the OEM one, also is anyone selling and KS's on the .org?
I'm using the Bosch now and it works flawlessly, no probs yet, since lke 4-5 months ago. The diff. is like night and day in terms of the low end pwr band. Takes like 3 mins to replace, come on man you can do it, it's not that hard.
Alright I think I'm going to do it so its just one bolt and one clip that I'm removing right? Does the sensor slide out, or do you have to pull it out. Please don't flame I read almost 3 write ups I'm just making sure, I don't want to screw anything up, I've had the car only 1 month so I am hesitant. Thanks for our help though!
HarrisH, i was wondering what type of flat head screw driver did u used to turn the selector? i can't seem to turn it...my CEL isn't on but i want to do a test cause my fuel mileage is bad lately...thanks..
I just used any regular flat head that was lying around make sure it's not to thick or to thin, you have to make sure that you peel through the plastic sticker though so make sure you're poking through it...
I have not installed anything yet I am waiting on the Knock Sensor, Air Filter, and Fuel Filter I ordered them all for 132 shipped from ExpressAutoParts.com, Bosch has the same markings as the OEM Knock Sensor and Bosch is pretty reputable the OEM Knock Sensor is the same as the Bosch one.
