Magnaflow Exhaust Question.

The other day, I had a shop nearby custom make me a B pipe without a resonator. Now I have one of them 70$ universal mufflers from ebay on my car, and when I had it installed, it was really low, even with my Warp Y pipe. So I had them make me a B pipe without a resonater, and now its really loud. ( I love it though ) Only problem is, I have a weird sound to it at a certain RPM. I think its the (bees in a can) sound. Now the guy I had make me the B pipe, is a Retailer for Magnaflow. He has many of there Universal Street Seriers Mufflers on hand and I was wondering if anyone on here has a Magnaflow muffler on there car. Thing is, I want to switch it, but I want it to be as loud as the one I have now (has a Nice Deep Bass Tone). But. He told me what he would do is, hack off my old muffler, and put the magnaflow on so I can test it. He said if I like it, he will sell it for 225$ installed. If I dont like it, he will take it back off and put my other one back on, with no charge. But I figured it would be easier to find someone on here with a Magnaflow muffler on there car and maybe could explain the tone of it to me. I would appreciate it, thanx

PS: Magnaflow muffler I ws looking at is the Oval style mirror finish muffler with the 7 inch tip that is round rolled with a 4" outlet.

If its a straight through design it will be loud. I had a Magnaflow straight through on the car for a few days, it was very deep sounding, but the droaning from 0mph-80mph was horrid!!! I went with a dynomax turbo muffler, its baffled and it is much more livable. If I was still 16 and hanging out at the street races every night it would be a different story, but for a 31 yr old father of 2 it wasnt too cool. Besides, HP for DB is not a trade off I am willing to make, were only talking a few HP for alot of DB.

see my site.

i love my magnaflow, a bit of drone if the engine is accelerating at lowish rpm. i mean, if there is a 1% grade, you will get quiet drone, but at 0% grade you will get no drone. the tone is pretty deep, not the deepest i have heard, but far from rice, and it is decently loud, kinda sounds like a stock mustang V8.

I like mine still as well...the idle is odd at some times with the y-pipe but I already switched the stock resonator out for an Allied brand 22" model...it helped and some people say it is quiet , others (like the wife) say it is really loud.

it is more than stock but I think much of that comes from its straight thru design and the y-pipe...

even the stock exhaust was louder with the addition of the y-pipe.

here is a couple shots of mine installed...

Do you have an aftermarket B pipe? Without a resonator? Thats when I really noticed the sound pumped up a lot when I switched that. The Y pipe made it a little louder, but the B pipe is what should be changed for the Sound.

Thanx
