Anyone get a set yet? I think this is the one mod that will really make a lot of gains (like 15-20% possibly). I saw the article on them at vqpower.com but they didn't have any info on price or anything. Anyone know anything?

And MaxSpeedSE, you gotta remove that pic. It's like kryptonite for me. Fine hunny, and a modified Maxima. It's one thing for y'all to be putting up pics of hot girls, but when you couple them with a girl that loves modded Max's, that's just too much The only thing more kryptonite'ish for me (is that even a word, lol) is a crotch rocket girl with a tattoo on her upper butt cheek.
More than anything, I'm curious what kind of high rpm power the VQ can make. I mean, imagine MEVI, cams, ECU. Couple that with an intake and an exhaust, and that's one mean NA Maxima. I'm just wondering how balanced the VQ is.

i dont get it
We're all family here, somewhat, right? And I mean they don't really have any competitors. I don't want design details, just price and availability. This is a big step for the VQ...I mean after we get rods and pistons we're in Honda modding territory. I don't see any good reason in keeping things secret besides the "I know something you don't know" factor. Not to be a **** or anything, just saying.

Yes, I do have the cams and they make a huge difference. I was going to dnyo my car this weekend but I developed some lifter noise and the car goes in monday to check it out. The cams are good for turbo, N2O, and non aspirated. To take full advantage of the cams you must replace the valve springs. JWT has them and they give you a 30 lb. increase. The rev limiter can now safely be turned up to 7200 rpm and as long as the fuel, air, and timing curves are correct you can rev the shi--t out of the engine without hurting it. When I spray the 65 shot the car winds up to 7500 extremely fast and you should see the EGT guage shoot up to 1500 just as fast. By the way, these cams lope and you have to turn up the idle to 950 and it still isn't perfectly smooth because the computer is constantly going back and forth looking for an equilibrium it can't find due to the different cam specs.
The bottom line is you just can't throw a cam at the car and expect to get big increases in HP, you have to change everything all the way down the line to get the advantages.

I have JWT cams
However they are for my SR20DE though. But like I30Krab posted, I have a JWT ECU with the program for the cams. My idle is 900-950rpm and it does vary between 800-1100rpm from time to time. I didn't seem to notice much if any low speed torque. However there is a noticeable gain in torque in the midrange to toppend power.
Given that the VQ30 cams are the same specs as the 94+ lowport SR20DE cams, JWT S3/S4 cams are good for 8-13whp. As the However the big gains come after the torque peak (5000rpm for the SR20). In the VQ you should notice more torque starting from 4000-4200rpm to fuel cut. The biggest gain would be around 6000rpm+ where as the power would slowly drop off instead of nose diving. I've seen dynos for JWT cams in a VG30 and SR20 the results are simular. Around 8-12whp at peak and 7-15whp average gain from torque peak to fuel cut.

I have a set of JWT cams on my SE-R (sr20de), and I can vouch that JWT makes some quality cams. For the SR20, JWT has put out probably about 4 if not more variants. Some require new springs and retainers, some don't.
The power increase with cams AND boost is phenomenal! You can expect 25 HP or more with cams+boost vs. just boost, all things equal. The cams I have (S3 grinds) are my mod yet.

Hows about some one buy a set of JW$ cams, send them to a shop with a a Cam Doctor and have the specs read, then returns the JW$ cams. Then we have some other place make them up for us allot cheeper.
The stock cams do a very good job with low end TQ, which is what is going to win stop light drag races, high end HP is more for road racing or highway blasts.

But I don't know if its going to work, because i herd the specs of the cams JWT uses, that they snap very easy...so im sure they used a strong material ...but then again i could be wrong

$1100 for cams is pretty reasonable seeing you have to buy 4 of them. I don't think many of you are realizing the kind of labor that will involved installing FOUR cams. I'd guesstimate 10-12 hours or ~$600 in labor at a reputable performance shop.
