Has anyone painted eyelids directly on their headlights?

I have seen people cut headlight covers to make eyelids that go over their headlights, but has anyone paint-matched their body color and painted directly on the headlight? I have a black max and it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. I have dark spray tint that allows light to pass thru while appearing black. I did this to my clear bumper lights and it looks sweet. Especially at night. let me know.

tried this. two words: rock chips. even if you cleared coated it. you know what your hood looks like (if it looks anything like mine) with all the chips? your head lights will start to look like that where its painted. i ended up buying the headlight covers, not cutting them and painting the top and bottom half. if you have enough *****, take apart your head light using the instructions for the AE style headlights and paint the inside.

Good call,
I wanted to do the AE headlights anyways. I just did the red/clear tail conversion yesterday and using the oven wasn't that bad. That's a great idea painting the inside of the headlight cover, good lookin' out.

That looks tight. I live in Cali also and my hood isn't chipped bad at all. I think I'll try directly painting them on to the headlight. Slammed95, did you clear coat the paint? Also, have any of you guys seen those clear hood bras before? They are a very rugged clear coating that sticks on to the front 6-8" of your hood. It is neary invisable to see unless your looking for it. They work great against chips but I can't find any. Anyone have a link? thanks for the info.

for the paint on the head lights. some one mentioned that it would be permanent. if you got sick of your eyelids, just use paint thinner to remove them

Thats what I was thinking. You could easily remove the layer of paint off of the plastic headlight. No risk, I love it.

I don't have a digi cam yet, but I 'll try and scan some pics soon. I'm going to do the eyelids with that spray tint, then I'll take a pic of both the bumper lights and the tinted eyebrows.

I spray painted my with black flat paint. It looked great, however now there are chip marks. I am going to repaint them eventually. I think it looks great otherwise. The only thing I dont like about them is that you can see some light through them. In my opinion, I would rather put a couple of coats of spray paint and not have any light shine through them as oppose to using the paint that allows light through.

tinted eyebrows

I just got done with the tinted eyebrows. It looks nice. Dark enough and glossy to match the black body paint, and creates a unique effect at night, it's smoke colored. It lets the light through with ease, and the tint glows dark. Its like the "smoke" color some VWs have on their tail lights. I'll try and take some pics but I will have to get them developed and scan, I'm lost in '97; when digicams were just a coveted dream.

I've seen the "clear" bras you're talking about advertised before. Even saw a site that had Ferrari's, Porsche's, etc... with them on. If the pictures on it were accurate, they are very hard to see on the car. I think I saw that 3M manufactures the clear vinyl or whatever it is, and another company cuts the forms for the various makes/models. I'll keep an eye out and will post the link if I find something.
I think they'd be a good investment, but it would only look right if applied to a front end in really good shape (no chips, scratches, swirls, etc...). I'd defintely have to repair some chips on my hood, but I haven't been able to match my Arctic Pearl White yet. Has anyone else found a match for it in just touch up paints (for a '97 SE if it makes a difference)?

I knew I they are out there somewhere. I used to be a sales manager at a dealership and there was a local vendor who would come by and put these invisa-bras on. I think they were about a $100 wholesale. the only problem is, I moved out of that state, and the dealership went out of business, so I have no way to track the vendor down. You're right, they needed to repair the front bumper i.e; scratches, and chips on used cars, but they just threw it on new cars as is, and it was a great product. If you see any around let me know, I'll do the same.
